Similar to recent international auto shows, Chinese brands dominate with a strong presence. The trend of electrification and “greening” is evident at BIMS 2025, with numerous electric and hybrid vehicles on display.

According to the organizers, BIMS 2025 features 41 car manufacturers and 13 motorcycle brands from Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Several electric vehicle brands are also present, including BYD, Neta, and Zeekr.

This year, many traditional car manufacturers are showcasing hybrid and electric models, effectively “greening” the Bangkok International Motor Show.

For instance, Mitsubishi introduced hybrid versions of its popular models, the Xforce and Xpander. These hybrid variants are likely to be launched in Vietnam soon.

An Inevitable Trend

As electrification gains momentum globally, the dominance of electric and hybrid vehicles at auto shows is a natural and inevitable trend.

At the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 (VMS 2024) last October, several electric and hybrid models from various brands were prominently featured, attracting significant attention.

This trend is expected to continue at the Shanghai International Auto Show later this month. As one of the largest international auto shows, Shanghai will be a platform for Chinese brands to showcase their electrification technologies and products.

Last year, China’s new energy vehicle market grew by 38.2%, primarily driven by PHEV sales.

According to EV Volumes, Chinese consumers purchased a total of 11.2 million electric and PHEV vehicles last year, a significant increase from the 8.11 million units sold in 2023.

As reported by Forbes, China’s automotive market now features over 200 brands offering electric vehicles, including pure electric and hybrid models. The competition in China’s electric vehicle market is intense, leading to a dominance of green vehicles at recent international auto shows in the country.

The organizers of the Beijing Auto Show 2024 (BJAS 2024) announced that the event will feature 278 new energy vehicles, 7 more than the previous show.

The 2024 Beijing International Auto Show saw a dominance of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Almost all participating brands at BJAS 2024 showcased at least one electric or hybrid model. This trend is likely to continue at the Shanghai International Auto Show next month.
