Yamaha has unveiled the latest generation of its Janus 125 scooter in Vietnam, featuring subtle design enhancements and size adjustments. This update is a strategic move to bolster its competitiveness against the Honda Vision, its primary rival, after a two-year hiatus in updates.

The new Janus retains much of its predecessor’s aesthetic, with the most notable changes found at the rear. The U-shaped taillight has been redesigned, and the turn signals are now seamlessly integrated near the taillight, a departure from the 2022 model where they were mounted on the fender.

The new model retains the signature LCD display combined with an analog gauge and chrome-accented headlights. The smart key system is an exclusive feature available only on the Special and Limited editions.

According to Yamaha Vietnam, the new Janus seat is 77 mm longer than the previous model. The Limited edition introduces the Anti Heat Seat technology to combat heat buildup.

The footrest area has been extended by 20 mm, and the under-seat storage capacity has increased by 1.1 liters, now featuring thermal insulation and a built-in USB charging port. Anticipated upgrades such as enhanced lighting and ABS braking are not included in this update.

The 2024 Janus continues to utilize the 125 cc engine, delivering 9.5 horsepower and a maximum torque of 9.6 Nm. This engine configuration ensures the Janus remains more powerful than the Honda Vision, which is equipped with a 110 cc engine producing 8.8 horsepower and 9.3 Nm of torque.

In Vietnam, the Janus 2024 is available in three variants: Standard, Premium, and Limited, priced at 29.15 million, 33.17 million, and 33.38 million VND, respectively. Compared to the 2022 model, the new Janus sees a price increase of 1-2 million VND depending on the variant. Despite this, it remains more affordable than the Honda Vision, which is priced between 31.11 and 36.41 million VND.
