Suzuki Australia has instructed its dealerships to cancel and refund all pending orders for the Jimny XL following a sudden sales suspension due to an “unidentified issue.” The company assures that the problem is unrelated to safety, so current owners need not discontinue use of their vehicles.
The Jimny XL, the five-door variant of the iconic off-road model, is currently under review at its manufacturing facility in India. Suzuki Australia has stated that while specific details remain undisclosed, the issue is confirmed not to compromise safety, allowing existing customers to continue driving without concern.
“Given the uncertainty surrounding the resolution timeline and drawing from past experiences, we advise dealerships to cancel existing Jimny XL orders and refund deposits to customers. This approach ensures transparency and prioritizes customer satisfaction during this period,” said Michael Pachota, CEO of Suzuki Australia, in a statement to Drive.com.au.
Customers have the option to remain on a waitlist if they prefer. Suzuki has requested dealerships to provide contact details of these customers to facilitate direct updates on the resolution process. As of now, Suzuki Japan has not released any new information or estimated timeline for addressing the issue.
In Australia, the Jimny XL is the sole variant available since Suzuki discontinued the three-door model in March due to non-compliance with mandatory autonomous emergency braking regulations. The three-door version is expected to return to the market in early 2026 after necessary upgrades.
In Vietnam, Suzuki currently offers only the three-door variant, priced at approximately 789 million VND.
