The landscape of the D-segment sedan market has largely been decided as overall group sales continue to decline for the third consecutive month. In August, the segment sold a total of 215 units, a decrease of 30 vehicles compared to the previous report.

Toyota Camry Shoulders the Burden

The last pillar of the D-segment, the Toyota Camry, recorded its first sales drop below the 200-unit mark, reaching 193 units. This marks the lowest sales figure for the Camry since the beginning of Q2.

Priced between 1.22 and 1.53 billion VND, the Camry remains the most expensive option in the D-segment.

Despite the introduction of the HEV variant, the Camry struggles to regain its former glory, particularly as the trend for low-slung vehicles wanes.

The Struggling Segment

While the Camry manages to maintain triple-digit sales, other models in the segment barely register, with some consistently failing to sell any units.

In August, the Kia K5 sold 18 units, becoming the second best-selling model in the segment with a year-to-date total of 118 units. The K5 is available in three variants, priced from 859 to 999 million VND.

The Honda Accord maintained its consistent performance with 4 units sold in August. The model’s persistently low sales are no longer surprising, despite ongoing promotions. In August, the Accord received cash discounts of tens of millions of VND at dealerships, with previous promotions reaching up to 250 million VND.
