Luxury vehicles like the Maybach 62S, Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB, and Mercedes-Maybach Pullman are often a driver’s nightmare due to their immense length and exorbitant value. Navigating the bustling streets of Hanoi or maneuvering into tight parking garages becomes a daunting task, fraught with the risk of scratches or dents. The mere thought of driving these behemoths into a basement garage is enough to make any chauffeur break out in a cold sweat.

Parking lots are a chauffeur’s worst enemy when it comes to these vehicles. Take, for instance, the case of a Mercedes-Maybach S650 Pullman that had already been parked in a seemingly perfect spot, yet its lengthy nose still protruded significantly. With a length of 6.5 meters, one can hardly blame the driver.

The Maybach 62S, despite being slightly shorter at 6.2 meters, still poses a challenge for drivers seeking parking spaces. The most practical solution is to park it sideways, close to a wall, minimizing obstruction to other vehicles and providing a more comfortable entry and exit for the driver.

This particular Maybach 62S is believed to be one of the first ultra-luxury vehicles of its kind to arrive in Vietnam, still bearing its original four-digit license plate. Its owner reportedly rarely drives it. The Maybach 62S made its debut in November 2006 at the Auto China 2006 exhibition in Beijing.

In 2013, the Maybach brand was discontinued by Mercedes-Benz, marking the beginning of a new era for their ultra-luxury lineup with the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. This new line has achieved remarkable success, boasting enviable sales figures compared to the days when Maybach stood alone in the ultra-luxury market.

A glance at the exterior of this Maybach 62S reveals its older design, most notably the absence of daytime running LED lights and the presence of only 11 chrome slats on the grille, one less on each side compared to the upgraded version.

The ‘S’ in 62S stands for ‘Special,’ denoting a unique variant of the Maybach 62. The most significant changes are found in the rear cabin, designed for VIP passengers, featuring a privacy partition, a glass roof, and an array of other premium amenities.

Under the hood, the Maybach 62S retains the standard model’s 5.5-liter V12 engine, but with AMG’s tuning expertise, it delivers an impressive 612 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. Paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, this powerhouse accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h.
