Mid-Size SUV Sales in August 2025 (units: vehicles)

Ford Everest: 1,053 Units

In August 2025, the Ford Everest sold 1,053 units, a slight decrease of 3.3%. However, it remains the leader in the mid-size SUV segment. The American model also significantly outpaces its competitors and ranks among the top 10 best-selling cars in Vietnam.

Ford Everest

The Ford Everest’s strong sales, despite its high price tag (ranging from 1.099 to 1.545 billion VND), can be attributed to its sleek, modern design, extensive safety and convenience features, and a wide range of versions available to Vietnamese consumers.

Powering the Ford Everest are two 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine options. The first is a single-turbo engine delivering 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second is a twin-turbo engine producing 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, exclusive to premium versions.

Toyota Fortuner: 266 Units

Unlike in July 2025, the Toyota Fortuner saw a sales decline in August, dropping 23.3% to 266 units. Despite this, it remains the second best-selling mid-size SUV.

Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner maintains steady sales thanks to its reputable brand, durability, and high resale value. However, its design and features have not been updated in a while.

Priced between 1.055 and 1.35 billion VND, the Toyota Fortuner offers three engine options: a 2.4L diesel, a 2.8L diesel, and a 2.7L gasoline engine. These engines produce 147 hp/400 Nm, 201 hp/500 Nm, and 164 hp/245 Nm, respectively. All engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or 4WD drivetrains.

Hyundai Santa Fe: 208 Units

The Hyundai Santa Fe also experienced a sales decline in August, selling 208 units, a 25.7% drop, placing it third in the mid-size SUV segment.

Hyundai Santa Fe

The Hyundai Santa Fe is available in five versions in Vietnam, priced between 1.069 and 1.365 billion VND. Its pricing is competitive with rivals, but its new exterior design has sparked controversy.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Santa Fe features two new engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 2.5L Smartstream engine producing 194 horsepower and 246 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel or HTRAC all-wheel drive.

The second is a turbocharged 2.5L Smartstream engine delivering 281 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed wet dual-clutch automatic transmission and HTRAC all-wheel drive.

Mazda CX-8: 157 Units

The Mazda CX-8 ranks fourth in mid-size SUV sales, with 157 units sold, a 25.9% decline.

Mazda CX-8

The Mazda CX-8’s key advantage is its affordability, priced between 969 million and 1.149 billion VND, making it one of the most affordable mid-size SUVs in Vietnam. It also impresses with its attractive design and comprehensive safety and convenience features.

The Mazda CX-8 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 188 horsepower and 252 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5 Luxury and 2.5 Premium versions feature front-wheel drive, while the 2.5 Signature AWD offers all-wheel drive.

Kia Sorento: 71 Units

Trailing the Mazda CX-8 is the Kia Sorento, with 71 units sold, a 10.1% decline.

The Kia Sorento offers the most versions in the mid-size SUV segment in Vietnam, with nine options priced between 954 million and 1.499 billion VND. Recently, an upgraded version was introduced, priced between 1.249 and 1.389 billion VND, featuring significant exterior design and equipment updates.

Latest Kia Sorento Version

Unfortunately, the 2025 Kia Sorento’s engine remains unchanged in Vietnam. It offers two options: a 2.5L Smartstream gasoline engine and a 2.0L Smartstream diesel engine. The gasoline engine produces 177 horsepower and 232 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel engine delivers 198 horsepower and 440 Nm of torque, mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Both engines feature Normal/Eco/Sport/Smart driving modes and Snow/Sand/Mud terrain modes.

Isuzu mu-X: 23 Units

The Isuzu mu-X was the only mid-size SUV to see positive growth in August 2025, with 23 units sold, a 43.7% increase. However, its sales remain modest, placing it among the ten worst-selling cars in the market.

Isuzu mu-X

The Isuzu mu-X is affordably priced between 928 million and 1.269 billion VND. Unfortunately, its design appeals to a limited audience, and the brand is strongly associated with commercial trucks.

Powering the Isuzu mu-X is a turbocharged 1.9L RZ4E-TC diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, depending on the version.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 0 Units

In August 2025, the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport recorded no sales. Many speculate that dealer inventory has been depleted, awaiting the launch of an upgraded version in Vietnam.

The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport in Vietnam is expected to feature a design and equipment similar to the Thai model. The most notable update is its new engine.

Latest Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Version

The vehicle will be equipped with a 2.4L single-turbo MIVEC diesel engine producing 183 horsepower and 430 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or Super Select 4WD II all-wheel drive.

Mitsubishi has not yet confirmed the launch of the upgraded Pajero Sport in Vietnam.
