Stepping into the world of electric vehicles can be daunting, especially when choosing a model that leans more toward “revolution” than “evolution.” This is particularly true for luxury customers who are passionate about sports and the thrill of commanding powerful gasoline engines. So, how has Porsche addressed this? The Porsche Macan EV is the answer: retaining nearly all the best features of the gasoline-powered Macan, with only subtle refinements to embrace the future.
Design: Sleek, Minimalist, and Unmistakably Porsche
The Macan EV stands out significantly from its predecessor. Slim headlights with a four-point LED strip and a seamless rear light bar harmonize this compact SUV with the Taycan and Panamera. The new design cleverly masks the vehicle’s increased size, maintaining nearly the same width and height while extending the wheelbase by 76 mm and overall length by 50 mm.
Weight has increased notably. Replacing the gasoline engine with a large battery and electric motor adds nearly 400 kg to the Macan 4 we tested, bringing its total weight to 2,330 kg.
The Macan 4 is elegantly finished in Ice Grey Metallic. Notably, it lacks a rear wiper (unless requested by the customer). The rear spoiler is integrated and only deploys at certain speeds or via the infotainment system.
Interior and Comfort: Refined German Precision
The cabin embodies Porsche’s philosophy of gradual evolution, retaining the essence of the gasoline model with modern tweaks. The center console features a larger storage compartment, the gear selector is reduced to a small switch on the dashboard, and the entire instrument cluster is now digital—mirroring updates in the new Cayenne.
The interior evokes the Cayenne and Taycan, with a curved digital instrument cluster and a 10.9-inch center screen that’s both functional and understated.

The longer wheelbase provides more legroom, especially in the rear, though overall space remains slightly cramped for long journeys. The cargo area is largely unchanged, with the addition of a small frunk. Rear visibility is good, and the sloping roof doesn’t compromise headroom in the back.

The interior finishes are premium yet understated, embodying Porsche’s discreet luxury. New technologies, such as the Porsche Driver Experience operating system and a smart LED strip similar to Volkswagen ID, seamlessly integrate to display vehicle status, enable voice control, and adjust driving modes.
Powertrain and Platform: New PPE Architecture, Shared with Audi Q6 e-tron
The Macan Electric is built on the new PPE (Premium Platform Electric) architecture, which will also underpin the Audi Q6 e-tron and future electric Cayenne models.
Macan Electric variants differ primarily in their electric motor configurations, especially at the rear axle. The Macan and Macan 4 share the same setup, while the Macan 4S and Turbo are significantly more powerful.
The Macan 4 we tested features a 100 kWh battery, two electric motors, 387 horsepower (boosting to 408 horsepower with overboost), 650 Nm of torque, and AWD. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, with a WLTP range of 516–612 km and supports fast charging up to 270 kW.
Driving Experience: Porsche DNA Intact
The Macan 4 Electric’s strength lies not only in its performance but also in its driving dynamics. With a center of gravity 140 mm lower than the gasoline Macan, it offers exceptional balance.
The steering, braking, and chassis work harmoniously, delivering precision and confidence. In Sport or Sport Plus modes, power delivery is linear, smooth, and controllable. Porsche has uniquely positioned the rear motor further back than in the Audi Q6 e-tron to maintain its signature driving character.
Conclusion
With a starting price of 3.363 billion VND for the base model (which few customers settle for) and up to 5.085 billion VND fully optioned, the Porsche Macan 4 Electric is a premium SUV. However, it offers a near-perfect balance of performance, comfort, and driving pleasure.
Despite the increasingly crowded electric SUV market, the Macan 4 Electric proves Porsche retains its sporty DNA in the new era. For those with the means, it’s a worthy choice.
