In the Chinese market, the Toyota Corolla Cross is sold under two different names. The version produced by the FAW Toyota joint venture retains the international name Corolla Cross, while the model assembled by GAC Toyota is called the Frontlander.

Despite sharing the same platform, the Frontlander differs significantly in design and features compared to the Toyota Corolla Cross familiar in Vietnam.

In this mid-life upgrade, the Frontlander 2025 has received subtle adjustments in dimensions. It now measures 4,490 mm in length, 1,825 mm in width, 1,625 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm.

The standout feature is the redesigned front fascia. The traditional grille has been replaced with a sleek, integrated front bumper reminiscent of electric vehicles. The Toyota logo is now positioned on the hood, creating a distinct visual difference.

The vehicle features modern LED headlights similar to the premium model, with refined and sharper taillights. Additionally, the Frontlander 2025 introduces a new Titanium Star Grey paint option to appeal to younger customers.

The interior of the Frontlander has been refreshed with a minimalist and upscale design. It boasts a large 12.9-inch infotainment screen, nearly eliminating traditional buttons. Behind the steering wheel is an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The 64-color ambient lighting system, glossy center console, and power-adjustable seats with lumbar support enhance the overall comfort.

The interior is available in two color options: Starry Black and Ivory White, catering to both young and mature customers.

Powering the Toyota Frontlander are two engine options. The first is a 2.0L four-cylinder engine producing 169 horsepower, paired with a front-wheel-drive CVT transmission.

The second option is a hybrid powertrain combining a 2.0L gasoline engine with 156 horsepower, an electric motor generating 111 horsepower, and a lithium-ion battery, also driving the front wheels via an E-CVT transmission. This hybrid system is more powerful than the 1.8L hybrid variant available in Vietnam.

In China, the Toyota Frontlander 2025 is priced between $18,700 – $21,900 (494 – 578 million VND) for the gasoline version and $20,500 – $23,300 (541 – 615 million VND) for the hybrid variant.
