Upgraded in April 2024 with a plug-in hybrid system, the Lamborghini Urus SE stands as one of the rare high-performance SUVs on the market featuring a gasoline-electric powertrain, sparking considerable curiosity among prospective buyers.
However, Lamborghini’s most powerful high-riding supercar to date has been subject to a recall due to a high-pressure fuel pump issue that may cause fuel leakage. In affected vehicles, the fuel pump might not be properly installed into the cylinder head.
Lamborghini Urus SE Hybrid Recalled Over Potential Fuel Leak Risk
Porsche is listed as the supplier of the high-pressure fuel pump in the recall documentation. The part number 0P2127026B is referenced, and Google indicates that 0P2127026 is compatible with Bentley Continental GT models equipped with a V8 engine. Both vehicles, in fact, share the Volkswagen Group’s EA825 engine.
Lamborghini initiated an investigation earlier this month after receiving two reports. The most severe case involved a malfunction indicator light, fuel odor, and a fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Another report was filed with the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based automaker, where the incident only involved a malfunction indicator light. A joint investigation between Lamborghini and Porsche revealed that a manual repair process on the engine assembly line may have led to the improper installation of the high-pressure fuel pump.
As a result, Lamborghini has instructed service technicians to inspect all screw connections of the high-pressure fuel pump. If necessary, both the pump and fuel lines will be replaced at no cost to affected customers.
Porsche has addressed the described issue through a combination of process adjustments and quality assurance enhancements. Additionally, the German automaker has introduced manual tools as part of a contingency strategy to ensure process reliability. All corrective measures were implemented by early September 2025.
U.S. Lamborghini dealers were notified between September 4, 2025, and September 25, 2025. However, customer notifications will be sent via mail from November 1, 2025, to November 6, 2026. Affected vehicles were produced from December 11, 2024, to July 2, 2025, in Sant’Agata Bolognese.
The Bentayga, Urus’ sibling, hails from Crewe, while its platform-sharing counterparts—Cayenne, Cayenne Coupe, Q7, Q8, and Touareg—are produced at the Bratislava plant in Slovakia. Insider sources from the Volkswagen Group indicate that the Volkswagen brand plans to discontinue the Touareg in 2026, though the Touareg nameplate will return later on an electric SUV.
All MLB Evo-based SUVs from the Group offer a plug-in hybrid option, but Lamborghini boasts the most powerful variant with the Urus SE. Currently priced just over $240,000 in the U.S. market, this V8 PHEV delivers a staggering 789 horsepower.
Of that total, 192 horsepower comes from the electric drive system. Lamborghini claims a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds, or approximately 3.2 seconds to reach 96 km/h. Meanwhile, the top speed is rated at 312 km/h, a figure Porsche advertises for the significantly lighter and more aerodynamic 911 Carrera 4 GTS.
