According to a Southern region dealer, the standard gasoline-powered Mercedes-Benz G 500 is expected to be officially distributed in Vietnam in Q2 2026.
Specifically, the Mercedes-Benz G 500 is anticipated to be priced between 9 and 9.5 billion VND, lower than the high-performance AMG G 63 (11.75 billion VND) but higher than the all-electric G 580 EQ (7.75 billion VND).
Currently, the global G-Class lineup includes four variants: G 450d, G 500, G 63, and G 580 EQ. Among these, the G 63 and G 580 EQ are already available in Vietnam, while the G 450d (diesel) has no distribution plans yet.
The introduction of the G 500 will expand the product range, offering an additional option for customers seeking a G-Class without the extreme performance of the AMG variant.
Unlike the sporty G 63, the Mercedes-Benz G 500 is positioned as an off-road-focused version.
The front bumper is designed more subtly, without large air intakes. The grille features traditional horizontal slats instead of the Panamericana vertical slats characteristic of AMG models.
The wheels are expected to be smaller with thicker tires, optimizing grip and comfort on rough terrain.
The G 500’s cabin shares many similarities with the G 63, featuring dual 12.3-inch screens, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, three-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and heated/ventilated front seats.
Sporty details like carbon fiber trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel may be replaced with wood or polished metal accents and a standard three-spoke steering wheel, emphasizing the classic G-Class aesthetic.
The Mercedes-Benz G 500 is powered by a turbocharged 3.0L inline-six engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering approximately 443 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. Power is transmitted via a 9-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
If launched as planned, the Mercedes-Benz G 500 will become a balanced option between the all-electric G 580 EQ and the high-performance AMG G 63, catering to customers who value traditional off-road experiences while prioritizing the luxury and comfort synonymous with the Mercedes-Benz brand.
