Contrary to the overall trend of Vietnam’s automotive market, the D-class sedan segment in September 2025 was particularly sluggish, with no model selling more than 100 units, including the once-dominant Toyota Camry. Meanwhile, the Mazda6 continued its sales drought amid rumors of its discontinuation in Vietnam.

D-class Sedan Sales in September 2025 (units: vehicles)

Toyota Camry: 76 Units

The Toyota Camry has long been the default choice for Vietnamese buyers in the D-class sedan segment. However, even this couldn’t salvage its sales figures in September 2025.

During this period, the Toyota Camry sold only 76 units, a 56.5% decline. Despite this, the Japanese model retained its title as the segment’s sales leader.

Toyota Camry

The Camry’s slump likely prompted Toyota to launch an official promotion in October 2025, offering 50% support on registration fees for all three variants, valued between 61 and 77 million VND.

Priced from 1.22 to 1.53 billion VND, the Toyota Camry is more expensive than its competitors but compensates with a reputable brand, youthful design, rich features, proven durability, and high resale value.

The Camry offers two engine options. The first is a 2.0L naturally aspirated four-cylinder gasoline engine producing 170 hp and 206 Nm, paired with an E-CVT automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.

The second is a hybrid powertrain featuring a 2.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine with 184 hp and 221 Nm, combined with a 100 kW electric motor and lithium-ion battery.

Kia K5: 19 Units

The Kia K5 secured second place in the D-class sedan segment in September 2025, with modest sales of 19 units, a 9.5% drop from the previous month. This result placed it among the top 10 slowest-selling cars in the market.

Kia K5

Priced from 849 to 957 million VND for its three variants, the Kia K5 is significantly more affordable than the Toyota Camry. In October 2025, it received a promotion equivalent to 100% of the registration fee, valued at approximately 80 million VND.

Beyond its competitive pricing, the Kia K5 boasts a sporty design and premium features, including LED lighting, power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory, power-adjustable passenger seat, HUD, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch touchscreen, 12-speaker Bose sound system, dual-zone automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, remote engine start, and wireless phone charging.

The Korean sedan offers two engine options. The first is a 2.0L four-cylinder gasoline engine with 150 hp and 192 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The second is a 2.5L four-cylinder gasoline engine with 191 hp and 246 Nm, mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Honda Accord: 5 Units

The Honda Accord was the only D-class sedan to experience a sales increase in September 2025, selling 5 units, a 66.6% rise. However, it still ranked among the top 10 slowest-selling cars, similar to the Kia K5.

Honda Accord

The Honda Accord has long been a slow seller in Vietnam due to its high price, starting at 1.319 billion VND, and limited to a single variant. Its design and features have remained unchanged for an extended period, further diminishing its appeal. The shrinking D-class sedan segment has also impacted its performance.

However, the Accord is praised for its engine and driving dynamics. It features a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine with 188 hp and 260 Nm, paired with a CVT and Eco/Sport driving modes.

Mazda6: 0 Units

In September 2025, not a single Mazda6 was sold in Vietnam, marking the fifth consecutive month without sales.

Mazda dealerships in Vietnam have stopped accepting deposits for this D-class sedan. According to sales consultants, the remaining inventory was sold out by April 2025.

Mazda6

THACO, Mazda’s assembler and distributor in Vietnam, has not officially confirmed the Mazda6’s discontinuation. The model remains listed on Mazda Vietnam’s official website.

Priced from 779 to 899 million VND, the Mazda6 is the most affordable in its segment. However, like the Honda Accord, it has not received design or feature updates in a long time.

The Mazda6 offers two engine options in Vietnam. The SkyActiv-G 2.0 engine delivers 154 hp and 200 Nm, while the SkyActiv-G 2.5 engine produces 188 hp and 252 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
