Following the end of the seventh lunar month, Vietnam’s automotive market has shown signs of recovery. This is evident in the pickup truck segment, where most models experienced sales growth, with the exception of the Toyota Hilux.

Pickup Truck Sales in September 2025 (units: vehicles)
Ford Ranger: 1,683 Units
September 2025 further solidified the Ford Ranger’s unshakeable dominance in the pickup truck segment. With 1,683 units sold, an 11.3% increase, it once again left its competitors in the dust. Additionally, it was one of the best-selling internal combustion engine vehicles in Vietnam during September.

Ford Ranger
The Ford Ranger’s success can be attributed to the brand’s long-running promotional campaigns, coupled with its sleek design, rich features, and diverse range of variants, offering customers ample choices. Its price ranges from 707 million to 1.306 billion VND.
Under the hood, the Ford Ranger offers two 2.0L diesel engine options. The first is a single-turbo engine with a maximum power output of 167 hp and a peak torque of 405 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The second is a twin-turbo engine, delivering 207 hp and 500 Nm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Mitsubishi Triton: 484 Units
The Mitsubishi Triton was the standout performer in the pickup truck segment during September 2025, with a remarkable 100% sales growth, totaling 484 units. This surge allowed it to reclaim the second position in the segment from the Toyota Hilux.

Mitsubishi Triton
In October, Mitsubishi is offering a 100% registration fee waiver for the 2WD AT GLX variant, valued at 40 million VND. The 2WD AT Premium and 4WD AT Athlete variants receive a 50% registration fee waiver, worth 23-28 million VND, along with a 10 million VND gift voucher for all three variants.
In addition to consistent monthly promotions, this Japanese pickup truck boasts a fresh design, comprehensive features, and an attractive price range of 655-924 million VND.
Powering the Mitsubishi Triton is a 2.4L twin-turbo diesel MIVEC engine. In the 2WD AT GLX and 2WD AT Premium variants, it produces 184 hp and 430 Nm of torque. The 4WD AT Athlete variant delivers 204 hp and 470 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on the variant.
Toyota Hilux: 311 Units
As mentioned earlier, the Toyota Hilux was the only pickup truck to experience a sales decline in September, with 311 units sold, a 5.7% decrease from the previous month. This result pushed it down to third place in the segment, behind the Mitsubishi Triton.

Toyota Hilux
This may have prompted Toyota Vietnam to introduce a promotion for the Hilux in October, offering a 50% registration fee waiver valued at 20-30 million VND, depending on the variant.
The Toyota Hilux is priced between 668 and 999 million VND, comparable to its competitors. It also boasts a strong brand reputation, an extensive dealership network, proven durability, and excellent resale value.
The Toyota Hilux is powered by two 4-cylinder diesel engines. The first is a 2.4L engine producing 144 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The second is a 2.8L turbocharged engine, delivering 201 hp and 500 Nm. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, depending on the variant.
Isuzu D-Max: 53 Units
Like most of its competitors, the Isuzu D-Max experienced positive growth in September, with a 43.2% increase. Its actual sales reached 53 units, the lowest in the segment, but enough to avoid being among the top 10 slowest-selling cars in Vietnam for September 2025.

Isuzu D-Max
The Isuzu D-Max’s main advantage is its affordable price, ranging from 650 to 880 million VND. However, its design is somewhat polarizing, and the brand’s weak marketing and sales strategies have contributed to its consistently low sales in Vietnam’s pickup truck segment.
The Isuzu D-Max is powered by a 1.9L 4-cylinder diesel engine, producing 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.
