According to Japan’s Mag-X, insider sources reveal that the new SUV, named the Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, will not make an appearance at this year’s Japan Mobility Show. Instead, the vehicle will be unveiled during an exclusive media event on October 20, 2025, followed by a global launch at 5 a.m. Japan Standard Time on October 21.

Reports suggest the new Toyota Land Cruiser FJ will be manufactured in Thailand and exported to Japan, with domestic sales in Japan expected to begin in mid-2026. Off-road enthusiasts have long awaited the arrival of this vehicle, dubbed the “mini Toyota Land Cruiser.” After multiple delays, this launch date appears to be confirmed.
Since Toyota released the sole teaser image in August 2023, the company has kept details about the new Land Cruiser FJ tightly under wraps. This secrecy has fueled rumors about the SUV, with many believing it marks the revival of the FJ Cruiser lineage, though Toyota has yet to confirm this.

Overall, the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ’s design evolves from the 2021 Compact Cruiser EV concept, albeit with significantly larger dimensions. According to Japanese media, the SUV will measure approximately 4,500 mm in length, positioning it in the compact SUV segment.
Unlike the premium Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser 300 Series, which use the TNGA-F platform, the Land Cruiser FJ is expected to adopt the IMV-0 ladder-frame chassis, shared with the new-generation Hilux and Fortuner. The 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is likely to feature a 2.7L four-cylinder gasoline engine in select markets.
