Mercedes-Benz unveils the Vision Iconic, a two-door concept car that seamlessly blends the timeless elegance of classic coupes with cutting-edge future technology.

The exterior of the Vision Iconic is a harmonious fusion of historical design cues and futuristic elements. The front fascia is dominated by the “Iconic Grille,” a fully illuminated feature reminiscent of the GLC EV, flanked by sleek LED headlights. Drawing inspiration from legendary models like the Mercedes W108, W111, and 600 Pullman, the design incorporates the iconic star emblem on the hood, exuding luxury and a touch of nostalgia.

The silhouette of the Vision Iconic echoes the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Coupé and Cabriolet concepts from 2016-2017, refined with shorter overhangs. The long hood, side air vents, and steeply raked windshield create a dynamic, aerodynamic profile. The rear end is gracefully rounded, directly inspired by the iconic 300 SL Gullwing, a symbol of timeless elegance.

According to Mercedes’ Chief Design Officer, Gorden Wagener, the Vision Iconic is “a moving sculpture that celebrates the immortal beauty of the 1930s while shaping the future.”

Inside, the Vision Iconic cabin captivates with an Art Deco-inspired ambiance, blending opulence with contemporary materials and forms. The transparent dashboard resembles a Zeppelin airship, complemented by a classic four-spoke steering wheel and analog gauges reminiscent of high-end timepieces.

At the center of the dashboard, four traditional gauges are symmetrically arranged, including an AI companion clock that serves as a digital co-pilot. The bench seats are upholstered in deep blue velvet, accented with mother-of-pearl inlays and handcrafted pearl detailing.

Beneath its retro exterior, the Vision Iconic is a pioneer of advanced technology. Aiming for Level 4 autonomy, it utilizes “neuromorphic computing”—a brain-inspired system that processes environmental data ten times more efficiently than current systems while reducing AI energy consumption by 90%.

The vehicle also features a steer-by-wire system with rear-axle steering for enhanced agility, and a solar coating across its body that directly charges the battery from sunlight. Mercedes claims this innovation can add up to 12,000 km of range annually, depending on weather conditions, embodying the brand’s commitment to sustainability and green innovation.

Though still a concept with no production plans, the Mercedes Vision Iconic is poised to redefine the brand’s design language and inspire the next-generation electric S-Class—a potential successor to the EQS with a captivating coupé variant.
