According to the plan, Skoda is set to unveil a brand-new, fully electric 7-seater SUV named the Space in 2026, marking a significant expansion in the Czech automaker’s electrification strategy.

This model is considered the electric counterpart of the Skoda Kodiaq, currently the brand’s flagship 7-seater SUV powered by internal combustion engines.

The Skoda Space is developed based on the Vision 7S concept unveiled in 2024. As Skoda’s largest SUV, it is one of the first models to embody the new “Modern Solid” design philosophy. This design language will be applied across the brand’s electric vehicle lineup during its transition to a zero-emission era.

Inspired by the Vision 7S concept, the vehicle features a bold, muscular exterior with a distinctive LED light signature, redefining Skoda’s visual identity. A standout feature includes seven vertical vents on both the front and rear, designed to cool the battery and braking system—a detail expected to carry over to the production model.

The interior embraces minimalism, focusing on user experience. It features a vertically oriented “floating” central display, a slim steering wheel, physical controls for essential functions, and a spacious layout across all three rows. While the concept includes rear-hinged doors and an integrated child seat in the cabin, these elements are unlikely to appear in the production version for practicality.

Skoda’s 7-seater electric SUV is built on the MEB platform, a modular electric vehicle architecture developed by the Volkswagen Group. The production model is expected to feature an 86 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP range of 370–400 km. It supports fast charging at up to 200 kW, comparable to the latest electric models like the Volkswagen ID.7.

While Skoda has not confirmed the powertrain details, the Skoda Space is likely to offer two motor options and all-wheel drive (AWD). The top-tier variant may deliver approximately 390 horsepower, matching the high-performance version of the Volkswagen ID.7.

This new 7-seater SUV will lead Skoda’s electric vehicle lineup, joining the Elroq (compact SUV), Enyaq (mid-size SUV), and Epiq (subcompact SUV).

Skoda aims for electric vehicles to account for 70% of its global sales by the end of the decade. Introducing a 7-seater electric SUV is crucial to completing its product range and competing with rivals such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 7, and Volkswagen ID. Buzz XL.
