Recently, a rare Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 supercar was spotted cruising the streets of Ho Chi Minh City. What makes this sighting particularly intriguing is that this model is one of the few remaining examples still seen in public, as most others are now housed in the private garage of Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu.

This stunning Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 belongs to entrepreneur Quoc Cuong, who boasts an impressive collection of nearly 10 supercars and ultra-luxury SUVs, including a Lamborghini Urus, in Vietnam. The car’s vibrant yellow paintwork is a head-turner, complemented by exclusive Edition 1 features such as carbon fiber side vents, skirts, mirrors, rear bumpers, and roof.

Another standout feature is the fixed carbon fiber rear wing, which distinguishes the Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 from the standard GT S model. When first introduced in Vietnam, this yellow supercar carried an official price tag of 8.26 billion VND.

The Mercedes-AMG GT is a two-door sports car unveiled on September 9, 2014, and officially launched in October 2014 at the Paris Motor Show. While it doesn’t directly replace the SLS AMG (which competes in a different segment), it marks the second fully in-house developed sports car by Mercedes-AMG.

The Mercedes-AMG GT launched in March 2015 with two variants (GT and GT S), followed by the GT3 racing variant in the same year. A high-performance GT R variant was introduced in 2016.

At the 2018 Los Angeles Auto Show, Mercedes-AMG unveiled the GT R Pro, a track-focused version of the GT R. Limited to 750 units globally, the GT R Pro starts at $200,645 USD.

A GT4 racing variant, designed for semi-professional drivers and based on the GT R, was introduced in 2017. In 2021, the AMG GT Black Series was released. All variants are assembled at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen, Germany.

The Mercedes-AMG GT S Edition 1 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine, delivering a maximum output of 510 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 650 Nm of peak torque.

Paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, this supercar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 310 km/h.
