Ferrari boasts a unique program called the Special Projects initiative, where the marque’s artisans craft one-of-a-kind vehicles tailored to individual client requests.
Several clients expressed interest in a modern tribute to the iconic Ferrari F40, but only one committed to funding such a project, resulting in Ferrari’s latest creation, the SC40.
Exclusive Reveal: Ferrari SC40 Pays Homage to the Legendary F40
As expected, the design was executed by Ferrari’s Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni’s leadership. Beyond its bespoke aesthetics, the SC40 shares the mid-mounted V6 powertrain, chassis, and overall architecture with the 296 GTB.

This bespoke creation is described as “designed and engineered to fulfill the vision of a single client, embodying Ferrari’s ultimate expression of personalization.” Celebrating the 1987 Ferrari F40 legend, the SC40 features a distinct design characterized by “sharp, angular lines seamlessly blended with softer surface transitions, lending the car a contemporary yet unmistakably bold identity.”
While the F40’s V8-powered legacy inspired the SC40’s name and styling, Ferrari retained the 296 GTB’s technical specifications. This includes the 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged 120-degree V6 engine (F163), a compact axial-flux electric motor positioned between the engine and gearbox, delivering a combined output of 819 horsepower.

The exterior features a bespoke SC40 white base color accented with strategic black highlights for striking contrast.
Inside, Ferrari employed extensive carbon-Kevlar composites alongside Charcoal Alcantara and deep red Jacquard technical fabric upholstery. The Prancing Horse logo adorns the headrests, while SC40 branding is intricately woven into the trim.

While it remains uncertain whether this singular SC40 will ever showcase its full capabilities on the track, Ferrari assures that this bespoke 296 GTB retains the performance prowess of its sibling: accelerating from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds, 0-124 mph in 7.3 seconds, and achieving a top speed exceeding 205 mph.
