On October 9th, at the BYD passenger car manufacturing plant in Camaçari, Brazil, BYD’s 14 millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) officially rolled off the production line.

This historic event was attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Chinese Ambassador to Brazil Zhu Qingqiao, Governor of Bahia Jerônimo Rodrigues, and BYD Chairman and CEO Wang Chuanfu. This milestone marks a significant step in BYD’s global expansion and solidifies its leadership in the new energy vehicle sector.

With this achievement, BYD becomes the world’s first NEV manufacturer to reach the 14 million unit milestone, setting a new benchmark for the global automotive industry. During the ceremony, the BYD Song Pro—the 14 millionth vehicle—was ceremoniously presented to President Lula by BYD’s Chairman, symbolizing trust, friendship, and a shared commitment to sustainable development between BYD and Brazil.

President Lula emphasized, “BYD’s plant not only creates jobs but also restores pride for the people of Camaçari and Bahia. BYD is writing a new chapter in Brazil’s industrial history with the world’s most advanced and fastest vehicles.”

In his speech, Wang Chuanfu highlighted, “BYD has been a partner in Brazil for over 11 years. Our electric buses are a common sight on Brazilian streets, and we now serve over 170,000 customers here. BYD is not just an investor—we are a long-term development partner for this nation.”

Wang Chuanfu also announced that BYD will provide 30 new energy vehicles for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Belém, Pará. Post-conference, these vehicles will be donated to local schools and public organizations, continuing to serve communities and promote green transportation.

Ahead of the event, the Bahia State Assembly renamed the main road in front of the BYD plant to “BYD Avenue.” This is the third road globally to bear the BYD name, following those in Lancaster, USA, and Rayong, Thailand, underscoring BYD’s growing global influence.

BYD will continue its “globalization with localization” strategy, accelerating the expansion of its manufacturing ecosystem in key markets. Driven by technological innovation and sustainable development, BYD is committed to advancing the global automotive industry’s energy transition and green growth.
