On October 29, 2025, Mr. Toshihiro Mibe, Director, President, and Representative of Honda Motor Company, held a press conference at the Japan Mobility Show 2025.
This year, Honda will showcase a diverse range of mobility products and technologies for land, sea, air, and even space. The company aims to provide visitors with hands-on driving experiences and interactive exhibits, offering a glimpse into the exciting future Honda is shaping.
Electrification Strategy and the Honda 0 Series
During the event, Mr. Mibe announced Honda’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality across all products and operations by 2050. Despite the evolving landscape of the electric vehicle (EV) industry, Honda believes electrification is inevitable and is strategically preparing for this transition.
Central to this strategy is the Honda 0 Series, a new generation of electric vehicles developed “from the ground up,” embodying the philosophy of “Thin, Light, and Precise.” This approach challenges the notion that EVs are inherently bulky, offering a more agile, energy-efficient, and eco-friendly driving experience.
At the show, Honda unveiled three prototypes from the 0 Series: the Honda 0 Saloon, Honda 0 SUV, and Honda 0 α (Alpha).
The Honda 0 Saloon, built on a dedicated EV platform, features a sleek, sporty design and a surprisingly spacious interior.
Meanwhile, the Honda 0 SUV, the first mid-size model set for commercialization, offers a versatile design suitable for both urban and long-distance travel.
The Honda 0 α, making its debut, combines the sleek aesthetics of the 0 Series with a unique SUV-inspired silhouette, seamlessly blending urban and natural environments. Its “Thin” design philosophy ensures a low-profile exterior without compromising ground clearance or cabin space, delivering both style and comfort.
Honda plans to launch the 0 α globally, starting in Japan and India, in 2027. As the “entry model” of the 0 Series, it aims to bring innovative value to a broader audience worldwide.
Acura RSX and the Future of Electric Motorcycles
Alongside the 0 Series, Honda introduced the Acura RSX prototype, a next-generation EV under the premium Acura brand. The RSX is the first vehicle to utilize Honda’s independently developed EV platform and features the ASIMO operating system, which learns driver preferences to optimize the driving experience.
In the motorcycle segment, Honda showcased the EV OUTLIER Concept, envisioning two-wheeled mobility beyond 2030. This concept leverages the flexibility of electric motorcycles, incorporating front and rear hub motors for a dynamic, low-slung design. Through electrification, Honda aims to redefine motorcycle value.
Preserving the “Joy of Driving” in the Electric Era
Another highlight at Honda’s booth was the “Joy of Driving” philosophy. Honda emphasized that even in the electric era, the sporty spirit and driver-vehicle connection will remain intact.
The compact Super-ONE Prototype, based on the N Series chassis, debuted with a Boost Mode that simulates traditional engine sounds and gear shifts, delivering an exhilarating drive. Scheduled for release in Japan in 2026, it will later expand to Asian and European markets.
The new Prelude sports model also made an appearance, reviving a Honda icon and bridging tradition with electrification.
Advanced Smart Technologies
Beyond land vehicles, Honda unveiled its next-generation ADAS system. When a destination is set, ADAS enables autonomous driving functions like throttle and steering control, ensuring a stress-free journey. Currently tested on US public roads, this technology will be introduced across EVs and hybrids from 2027, enhancing mobility freedom.
Diverse Mobility Solutions Across Land, Sea, Air, and Space
Honda also showcased its broad mobility portfolio, including energy products like tractors and outboard motors, and the HondaJet—a light business jet. These innovations expand human potential across various domains.
New solutions like compact short-distance vehicles and eVTOLs make air travel more accessible. Honda’s reusable rocket, successfully tested in Hokkaido in June 2025, marks its first step into space, aiming for sustainable, renewable-fuel mobility.
Concluding the conference, Mr. Mibe reaffirmed Honda’s global slogan, “The Power of Dreams – How we move you,” reflecting its commitment to innovation and mobility freedom. At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Honda’s booth wasn’t just about products—it was a vision of a smarter, sustainable, and inspiring future.
