Beyond the 992 generation, Porsche enthusiasts hold a special fondness for the 911’s 991 series. Many avid collectors tirelessly hunt for this model, while others who already own one seek to refresh its appeal through various modifications—from engine tuning and body kits to custom wheels.

Recently, a Porsche 911 991 sports car spotted on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City captured attention with its striking new look. Notably, the car features a deep moss green finish, a classic racing color often seen on vintage Porsche race cars.

To enhance its exterior, the owner added striking brass accents, including dual stripes running from the hood, across the roof, and to the rear, a black number 80 with brass trim on both doors, and Porsche decals along the sides.

Finally, the dual-spoke wheels were refinished in a rose gold shade, complemented by red brake calipers. The owner also secured a custom license plate ending in “911,” matching the model’s name.

Launched in 2011, the 991-series 911 marked a significant technological leap. Its center console, inspired by the Carrera GT, was later adopted for the Panamera sedan. This generation introduced Porsche’s active chassis control system, PDCC.

In September 2015, Porsche debuted a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six engine for the base Carrera and Carrera S models. Compared to the 997, the 991 is slightly larger, with a 100 mm longer wheelbase (2,450 mm) and a 70 mm increase in overall length (4,490 mm).

A newly developed transmission allowed the rear wheels to be positioned 76 mm further back relative to the engine, significantly improving weight distribution and cornering performance.

Constructed with high-strength steel, aluminum, and composite materials, the weight was reduced to 1,380 kg for the manual Carrera, while the all-wheel-drive Turbo PDK variant weighs up to 1,605 kg. The 7-speed PDK transmission, produced by ZF Friedrichshafen, offers both automatic and manual modes, with gears 1–6 optimized for performance and 7th gear designed for fuel efficiency.

PDK consists of two integrated gearboxes with dual clutches, and all 991 models feature auto start-stop as standard. This blend of innovation and heritage cements the 911 991’s status as a modern classic.
