Mid-size SUV Sales in September 2025 (units: vehicles)
Ford Everest: 1,069 Units
The mid-size SUV segment in September 2025 remains dominated by the Ford Everest, leaving its competitors in the dust. Ford’s flagship SUV sold 1,069 units, a slight increase of 1.51%. This performance solidifies its position as the segment leader.

Ford Everest
Priced between 1.099 and 1.545 billion VND in Vietnam, the Ford Everest boasts a sleek exterior design, a well-equipped interior, and a range of safety features. Its diverse trim options cater to various consumer preferences.
Under the hood, the Everest offers two 2.0L four-cylinder diesel engine options. The single-turbo engine delivers 170 horsepower and 405 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The twin-turbo variant produces 210 horsepower and 500 Nm, mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, exclusive to higher trims.
Toyota Fortuner: 233 Units
The Toyota Fortuner secured the second spot in the mid-size SUV segment, selling 233 units, a 12.4% decrease from the previous month. Its sales are only one-fifth of the Ford Everest’s.

Toyota Fortuner
Once the best-selling mid-size SUV in Vietnam, the Fortuner’s appeal has waned due to its unchanged design and features over the years.
Priced between 1.055 and 1.35 billion VND, the Fortuner offers three engine options: a 2.4L diesel (147 hp/400 Nm), a 2.8L diesel (201 hp/500 Nm), and a 2.7L gasoline engine (164 hp/245 Nm). These engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel or 4WD drivetrains.
Hyundai Santa Fe: 202 Units
The Hyundai Santa Fe experienced a 2.88% sales decline, selling 202 units and maintaining its third position in the segment.

Hyundai Santa Fe
Available in five trims and priced between 1.069 and 1.365 billion VND, the Santa Fe’s controversial exterior design has made it less appealing to buyers despite its competitive pricing.
The Santa Fe is powered by two engine options. The first is a 2.5L naturally aspirated Smartstream engine producing 194 horsepower and 246 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel or HTRAC all-wheel drive. The second is a 2.5L turbocharged Smartstream engine generating 281 horsepower and 422 Nm, mated to an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission and HTRAC AWD.
Mazda CX-8: 194 Units
Mazda sold 194 CX-8 units in September 2025, a 23.5% increase, but it remains in the lower ranks of the mid-size SUV segment.

Mazda CX-8
Priced between 969 million and 1.149 billion VND, the CX-8 is one of the most affordable mid-size SUVs. However, its design, which closely resembles the CX-5, is a drawback.
The CX-8 is powered by a 2.5L naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 188 horsepower and 252 Nm, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 2.5 Luxury and 2.5 Premium trims feature front-wheel drive, while the 2.5 Signature AWD offers all-wheel drive.
Kia Sorento: 111 Units
The Kia Sorento achieved the highest sales growth in the mid-size SUV segment, with a 56.3% increase to 111 units sold.
With nine trim options, the Sorento offers the most choices in its segment. However, its price range of 954 million to 1.499 billion VND is not particularly competitive.

Kia Sorento
In September 2025, Kia introduced an upgraded Sorento in Vietnam, featuring a modern redesign and enhanced features.
The new Sorento retains its previous engine options: a 2.5L Smartstream gasoline engine (177 hp/232 Nm) with a 6-speed automatic transmission and a 2.0L Smartstream diesel engine (198 hp/440 Nm) with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also offers Normal/Eco/Sport/Smart driving modes and Snow/Sand/Mud terrain modes.
Isuzu mu-X: 15 Units
The Isuzu mu-X saw a 34.7% sales decline, selling only 15 units and remaining among the lowest-selling vehicles in the market.

Isuzu mu-X
Priced between 928 million and 1.269 billion VND, the mu-X is affordable but struggles due to its polarizing design and Isuzu’s stronger presence in the truck market.
The mu-X is powered by a 1.9L turbocharged RZ4E-TC diesel engine producing 150 horsepower and 350 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, depending on the trim.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport: 0 Units
The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport continued its sales drought in September 2025, with no units sold. This is likely due to depleted inventory as dealers await the arrival of the upgraded model.
Mitsubishi has not confirmed the launch of the upgraded Pajero Sport in Vietnam, but it is expected to feature design and equipment similar to the new model available in Thailand.

Mitsubishi Pajero Sport
The upgraded Pajero Sport’s highlight is its new engine: a 2.4L single-turbo MIVEC diesel engine producing 183 horsepower and 430 Nm. It will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and offer rear-wheel or Super Select 4WD II all-wheel drive.
