The Southeast Asian automotive market continues to buzz with the arrival of the all-new Mitsubishi Xforce HEV 2026, marking a significant stride for the Japanese automaker in its ASEAN electrification strategy.

According to the plan, the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV 2026 will be assembled at the Laem Chabang plant in Thailand. It will be offered in three variants: Ignite, Ultimate, and Ultimate X, priced between 899,000 and 1,089,000 baht (approximately $23,000 to $28,000 USD).

The vehicle measures 4,390 mm in length, 1,810 mm in width, 1,660 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Its high ground clearance, 18-inch alloy wheels, and excellent departure angles make the Xforce HEV versatile for Southeast Asia’s diverse terrains, from urban streets to rural roads.

The Xforce HEV retains Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield design, featuring LED headlights and an X-shaped grille that accentuates its front fascia. Compared to the gasoline version, the hybrid model introduces darker accents on the front bumper and side mirrors for distinct branding.

Even the base Ignite variant comes loaded with modern amenities, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, Auto Hold function, and a 6-speaker audio system.

The Ultimate variant, priced 140,000 baht higher (approximately $3,600 USD), adds hands-free power tailgate, 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, tire pressure monitoring, and premium interior accents.

In Thailand, the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV is available in six exterior colors: pearl white, silver, gray, black, yellow, and red. The yellow shade is expected to become the signature color for this new model.

Safety-wise, the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV is equipped with six standard airbags, ABS, EBD, BA, ASC, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

At its core, the Xforce HEV features Mitsubishi’s e:Motion hybrid system, combining a 1.6L 4A92 gasoline engine with an electric motor. The internal combustion engine delivers 107 hp and 134 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 116 hp and 255 Nm of torque.

Power is sent to the front wheels via a 2-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth acceleration and over 30% better fuel efficiency compared to the conventional gasoline model. Mitsubishi also includes multiple driving modes—Normal, Wet, Gravel, and Mud—for adaptability across various road conditions.

Analysts note that the Mitsubishi Xforce HEV enters the market at an opportune time, as Southeast Asia experiences a significant shift toward electrified vehicles, particularly compact hybrids. With its competitive pricing, dynamic design, and region-specific features, the Xforce HEV is poised to challenge rivals like Toyota, Honda, and BYD in 2026.

As Vietnam prepares to implement a special consumption tax reduction for hybrid vehicles starting in 2026, the Xforce HEV is likely to debut in the domestic market soon. If realized, this urban hybrid SUV could become an attractive option for Vietnamese consumers, balancing efficiency, operating costs, and eco-friendly technology.
