Recently, several sales consultants at dealerships have indicated that the Honda CR-V e:HEV RS model is likely to shift to domestic assembly instead of being fully imported as it is now.
The first domestically assembled batch is expected to launch in Vietnam after the Lunar New Year of 2026. However, it remains unclear whether the pricing will change.
If this information materializes, starting from 2026, the entire Honda CR-V lineup in Vietnam will be fully localized. Currently, the CR-V G, CR-V L, and CR-V L AWD variants are already being assembled at Honda Vietnam’s facility in Phu Tho province (formerly part of Vinh Phuc).
Previously, at the Emission Testing Center in Hanoi, many individuals inadvertently spotted an SUV believed to be the CR-V e:HEV RS. This model shares several design elements with the current version, such as black multi-spoke wheels and distinctive wheel arch trims, fueling speculation that it could be a prototype for the domestically assembled vehicle.
Launched in Vietnam in October 2023, the CR-V e:HEV RS is currently Honda Vietnam’s best-selling hybrid model, with 1,558 units delivered in the first nine months of 2025. It was also honored as the “Hybrid Car of the Year” at the 2025 Car Choice Awards.
If domestic assembly proceeds, the CR-V e:HEV RS is poised to gain a stronger competitive edge through a stable supply chain and more accessible pricing. This move also underscores Honda Vietnam’s new strides in localization and the development of eco-friendly vehicles.
