In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, VinFast electric vehicle users are experiencing greater convenience with charging stations now widely available, featuring high-capacity units ranging from 60 to 300kW, significantly reducing charging times.
Comprehensive Coverage of Major Cities with New Large-Scale Charging Stations
Electric vehicles are rapidly gaining traction in Vietnam, with growth rates multiplying year after year. Accompanying this growth is the swift expansion of charging infrastructure across the country. Notably, in the two largest cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, numerous large-scale charging stations have been constructed and are now operational.
Among these, the largest charging station in the country is located at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (Co Loa, Hanoi), boasting a total of 194 car charging ports. This station is one of the few equipped with 6 ultra-fast charging units, each with a capacity of up to 300kW. Additionally, customers can choose from 36 ports at 120kW, 80 ports at 60kW, and 72 ports at 20kW.
Hanoi also hosts several other charging stations capable of serving dozens to hundreds of vehicles simultaneously. For instance, the Yen Vien station has 70 units at 120kW, equivalent to 140 charging ports; the Nhon station has 42 units at 120kW, equivalent to 84 ports; and the Tran Vy station has 35 units at 120kW, equivalent to 70 ports. Some smaller stations can still accommodate 30-40 vehicles at once.
Mr. Le Manh The is delighted with the new charging station in Hoang Mai, which has made his work more convenient.
Mr. Le Manh The, a VF 8 owner residing in Phu Tho but frequently working in Hanoi, shared that since the new charging stations became operational, his work-related travel has become much smoother. “The charging units are performing well and reliably,” he added.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the number of charging stations is equally impressive. Vincom Dong Khoi features 59 charging ports with capacities ranging from 3.5kW to 80kW. The station at 247 National Highway 1K has 44 ports with capacities from 3.5 to 150kW; the Oncology Hospital station has 34 ports with capacities from 3.5 to 60kW. Additionally, various other areas in Ho Chi Minh City have stations that can serve 20-30 vehicles simultaneously, with maximum capacities of up to 120kW per port.
Electric Vehicle Users Gain Peace of Mind on Every Journey
The introduction of numerous large-scale charging stations in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City has been warmly received by individual customers and service drivers alike.
Mr. Tran Thanh Loi takes advantage of a high-capacity charging station during his lunch break to charge his VF e34.
Mr. Tran Thanh Loi, a driver for Xanh SM, noted that most charging stations now use high-speed units, halving charging times compared to before. This allows service drivers to take much-needed breaks. “A 30-40 minute charge during lunch gives me enough time to eat, rest, and recharge,” he said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu easily finds a charging station near his workplace thanks to the extensive network in Hanoi.
In addition to reduced charging times, the dense network of charging stations has made electric vehicle use more convenient. “Now, wherever I go in Hanoi, there’s a charging station. The expansion and addition of new stations have made me feel more confident about using electric vehicles,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, a Xanh SM driver.
Mr. Phan Thanh Phong uses a charging station in Phu My Hung Urban Area, Ho Chi Minh City.
Furthermore, the convenience is enhanced by the diverse charging station models tailored to different areas. Mr. Phan Thanh Phong, a VinFast VF 5 owner, pointed out that in central Ho Chi Minh City, charging stations are located in various spots such as roadside areas and parks, ensuring convenience for drivers while saving space. Many stations also integrate additional services to maximize user comfort.
Overall, many vehicle owners believe that charging infrastructure and vehicle quality are key factors in creating a more seamless experience and building customer trust in fully electric vehicles. This will be a significant driver for more people to switch to electric vehicles.
“The vehicle quality is improving, and the charging system is incredibly convenient. I’m confident that more people will buy electric vehicles soon. With free charging as it is now, electric vehicles are not only cost-effective but also more convenient than gasoline cars,” shared Mr. Chu Duc Kien, a VinFast owner.
