Kia Telluride 2027 Up Close: Striking Resemblance to the New Range Rover

The Kia Telluride made its debut in the Vietnamese market in 2022, yet demand remained insufficient for Thaco to officially distribute it. However, with the 2027 model’s complete transformation, there’s hope this three-row SUV will soon find its way to showrooms.

The Kia Telluride is back and better than ever with its 2027 iteration. This second-generation SUV solidifies Kia’s position in the midsize segment, proving that the brand’s R&D investments have paid off handsomely. The Telluride has undergone a complete transformation, emerging as the hottest SUV in North America.

Up Close with the 2027 Kia Telluride: A Striking Resemblance to the New Range Rover

At first glance, the Telluride is an undeniable upgrade. While retaining many of its signature design elements from the previous generation, the new model exudes a bold, rugged aesthetic. The expansive grille, accented by Kia’s stylized logo at its center, is a hallmark of both the Telluride and its sibling, the Hyundai Palisade.

It’s clear that the recently unveiled second-generation Palisade has significantly influenced the Telluride’s design direction. Since their late-2010s debut, these two SUVs have shared a close design kinship, yet the Telluride maintains its unique identity.

The X-Pro variant stands out with its distinctive flat black grille, flanked by amber LED turn signals, setting it apart visually from the Palisade. Optimized for off-road adventures, the X-Pro features blacked-out wheel arches, side mirrors, D-pillars, and exterior trim accents along the body’s character lines.

The 2027 Telluride also comes equipped with an integrated roof rack, all-terrain tires, and a 9.1-inch ground clearance. This design echoes the Hyundai Palisade’s XRT Pro variant, though the Telluride boasts a distinctly different aesthetic.

The grille incorporates subtle fractal patterns, adding a layer of intrigue that becomes apparent upon closer inspection. Undoubtedly, the new Telluride’s aerodynamic design is more refined, with smoother lines and graceful curves compared to its predecessor.

The wheelbase has been extended by nearly 3 inches, and the overall width increased by approximately 1 inch. The vehicle’s length has grown by about 2.2 inches, including both front and rear overhangs. This translates to more legroom and a larger cargo area, as we’ve observed.

At the rear, Kia has retained much of the current model’s design language. For a midsize SUV in today’s competitive market, the new Telluride exudes an elegance and sophistication that its predecessor lacked.

Overall, the design feels more streamlined, sharper, and slightly more premium, while preserving the signature elements that made the Telluride one of the most significant SUVs of the 21st century.

This aligns with Kia’s overarching design philosophy, dubbed “Opposites United,” applied across its North American lineup. Kia aims to harmonize seemingly contradictory elements, though we’d believe them if they claimed to unite affordability with a luxury SUV experience.

Details about the powertrain remain scarce and will be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this month. However, expectations include a naturally aspirated V6 engine and a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system with electric motors for enhanced performance—similar to the current Palisade, making it a logical choice for the Telluride.
