Three Decades Beneath the Passage of Time
Porsche once proudly declared that over 70% of the cars they produced are still on the road today. However, one Porsche 911 Targa had been forgotten for 31 years, resting silently beneath a blanket of pine needles and the dust of time in a small town in Idaho, USA.

The secret was uncovered by Markos Marzouca, a classic car collector. He revealed that the Porsche had been sitting near his office for years. “Many people tried to buy it, but no one succeeded. I was just lucky to ask at the right time,” he said.
Before being rescued from its hiding place, the car was half-buried in pine needles and damp soil, even becoming a food storage spot for squirrels. Yet, this didn’t deter Markos. He believed that “even the most forgotten machine deserves a chance to live again.”

After a thorough cleaning, the vintage Porsche transformed, revealing a condition far better than expected. Although the silver paint had faded and some parts were rusted, the chassis and engine remained intact.
According to old records, the Porsche 911 Targa was first sold at Vasek Polak dealership in California. Its owner then drove it across the western United States and Canada, conquering legendary routes like Trail Creek Summit and accumulating over 162,000 km—an impressive feat for a 1970s sports car.

Remarkably, the car still retains its original 2.0-liter straight-six engine—the heart of the classic Porsche lineage.
Reviving an Icon
Marzouca is restoring the car with a focus on preserving its aged charm while ensuring reliability and smooth operation, following the ratty patina style.
The first phase of the revival involves replacing the entire rusted iron frame of the front suspension, followed by engine restoration. “The engine still turns by hand, but the linkage is stuck. I hope it will roar back to life before the new year,” he shared.

Images of the car after its 30-year cleaning have gone viral among classic car enthusiasts, symbolizing passion and perseverance.
Launched in 1965, the Porsche 911 Targa is celebrated for blending sporty style with safety, thanks to its distinctive steel roll bar and removable roof. This design has become a Porsche signature for nearly 60 years.
After three decades buried under pine needles, the Targa once again sees the light. This is more than a restoration story—it’s a tale of awakening an icon. With enough passion and patience, every machine can rise from the ashes.
