At the recent Auto Guangzhou event, Toyota officially unveiled the mid-life upgrade of the Toyota Corolla sedan.
Corolla 2026 receives a refresh inspired by the Prius and Camry, featuring a distinctive “hammerhead” front design complemented by C-shaped LED headlights. Below, the L-shaped front bumper integrates fog lights, connected to a slimmed central air intake for a sleeker, more modern appearance.
The side profile boasts new 17-inch wheels reminiscent of the Lexus ES. A black triangular accent on the C-pillar elongates the glass area, enhancing the vehicle’s sleek silhouette.
The rear highlights include a redesigned LED taillight cluster with a dark finish and a striking red LED strip, adding a sportier touch.
At the rear, the 2026 Corolla features refined LED taillights paired with a horizontal red reflector, maintaining its elegant sedan aesthetic while introducing bold accents.
Inside, the cabin undergoes a significant transformation. The dashboard and door panels adopt a contemporary design with extended air vents, a secondary vent layer, and an expanded center console featuring dual phone storage compartments.
The 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster remains, while the central display is upgraded to a floating 12.9-inch unit powered by the Snapdragon 8155 chip. Notably, physical climate controls are replaced with touch-sensitive interfaces, a change that may divide opinions among traditional users.
Powering the Corolla 2026 in the Chinese market are two engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 2.0L M20E-FTS engine producing 171 horsepower, paired with a CVT transmission.
The second option is a hybrid powertrain combining a 1.8L Atkinson-cycle engine with dual electric motors and a new NMC battery. This setup delivers a fuel efficiency of 4.13 L/100 km and an impressive range of up to 1,041 km.
If the 2026 Corolla is introduced to Vietnam, its design and technological enhancements could significantly bolster its competitiveness in the sedan segment.
