Kia has officially unveiled images and details of the second-generation Telluride ahead of its debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, running from November 21 to 30.
Alongside significant design updates, the 2026 Telluride introduces its first-ever hybrid variant, while completely phasing out the previous naturally aspirated V6 engine.
The new generation adopts a boxier design language, replacing the previous soft curves. Flattened body panels, slightly flared wheel arches, and a sleeker D-pillar give the SUV a more robust and assertive stance.
The signature vertical headlights remain, but the grille has been completely redesigned with a thicker, deeper structure. Slim taillights stretching along the body evoke a Range Rover-like premium feel, elevating its appearance compared to the previous model.
The standard model features a vertical-slat grille with aerodynamic closures. The X-Pro variant exudes a rugged off-road character with a block-style grille, exposed tow hooks, a raised roof rack, and off-road tires, making it look ready for any terrain.
Inside, the 2026 Telluride’s cabin is fully redesigned, drawing inspiration from the EV9. The minimalist dashboard features two 12.3-inch screens seamlessly integrated under one panel, paired with a four-spoke steering wheel and a column-mounted gear selector, freeing up central space.
Legroom across all three rows is more generous thanks to the vehicle’s increased dimensions. Kia highlights enhanced seat configuration flexibility, prioritizing comfort and practicality for long journeys.
The first-generation Telluride was powered by a naturally aspirated V6 engine delivering 291 horsepower. The new model replaces this with two options:
The first is a 2.5L turbocharged engine producing 274 horsepower and 421 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Certain AWD models feature an E-LSD and center differential lock to optimize traction in various conditions.
The second option is a hybrid powertrain combining a 2.5L turbocharged engine with an electric motor and a 1.65 kWh lithium-ion battery, generating a total of 329 horsepower and 459 Nm of torque. This system is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, AWD, and an e-DTVC electronic torque vectoring system. It also includes a Stay Mode, allowing the air conditioning, lights, and audio to run for approximately 20 minutes on battery power alone without starting the engine.
Kia estimates the hybrid variant’s fuel efficiency at around 35 mpg (6.7 L/100 km), with a projected range of approximately 965 km on a full tank.
The 2026 Kia Telluride is set to launch at the Los Angeles Auto Show, with deliveries expected to begin in Q1 2026. Kia confirms there will be no electric version of the Telluride, as the EV9 will continue to fulfill that role.
