Australian Toyota dealerships have just unveiled the new 2026 Hilux lineup, boasting “significant enhancements and domestically developed designs.” The pricing is highly competitive, starting at AUD 33,990, which equates to approximately USD 22,564 at current exchange rates, or VND 596 million.

The entry-level model is the 2026 Toyota Hilux 4X2 WorkMate, featuring a single-cab chassis and manual transmission. However, there are also options for chassis cab or pickup configurations, 4X4 or 4X2 drivetrains, and single cab, double cab, and extended cab body styles.

Upgrade options include electric power steering, enhanced active safety technologies, or the latest multimedia system.

All variants come standard with Toyota’s reliable 2.8-liter turbocharged diesel engine. Commercial customers in transportation, mining, and business sectors will have access to a new battery-electric vehicle (BEV) option next year, “an electric truck that retains the functionality and performance of a pickup.” There will be five distinct versions: WorkMate, SR, SR5, and the top-tier Rogue and Rugged X models, suitable for both on-road and off-road use.

The 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine delivers 150 kW of power and 420 Nm of torque with a six-speed manual transmission, or 500 Nm with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Some double-cab automatic variants also incorporate the 48-volt V-Active mild-hybrid technology, offering seamless stop/start functionality, additional acceleration, and improved fuel efficiency.

The base WorkMate model is equipped with rear-wheel drive (RWD) and is available in single-cab or double-cab pickup configurations, while the 4×4 models offer single-cab, double-cab, or extra-cab options.

Even the most basic version is well-equipped with 17-inch wheels, manually adjustable LED headlights, body-colored front bumper and grille, power-adjustable mirrors, a shark-fin antenna, tailgate dampers, power windows, manual air conditioning, and the new multimedia system.

This system is standard across the 2026 Hilux range, featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, DAB+ digital radio, integrated satellite navigation, and natural voice recognition.

Additionally, the vehicle includes a standard 7-inch digital instrument cluster, USB-C ports, and single or dual 12V accessory outlets. The price rises to AUD 71,990, equivalent to VND 1.26 billion, for the impressive Rugged X 48V AT double-cab pickup variant.

The new-generation Toyota Hilux is expected to debut in Vietnam early next year. Vietnamese dealerships have already started accepting deposits for this pickup truck, with deliveries promised from January 2026. Sales consultants at dealerships also mentioned that the 2026 Toyota Hilux in Vietnam will be available in three versions: 4×2 MT, 4×2 AT, and 4×4 AT. The pricing is anticipated to increase from the current VND 668 – 999 million range of the older model available in Vietnam.
