Slated for an early 2026 debut, Mercedes-Benz is set to unveil its all-new, fully electric minivan, the VLE.
Ahead of its launch, the German automaker has released the first images, offering a clear glimpse into the design and technology direction of this innovative vehicle.
Compared to the Vision V concept, which showcased a futuristic design language, the production-ready VLE has been significantly refined to better suit practical usage. However, it retains key signature elements, such as the star-shaped LED daytime running lights and a sleek, aerodynamic profile, effectively eliminating the bulky aesthetic often associated with traditional minivans.
The retention of much of the concept’s DNA underscores Mercedes-Benz’s ambition to redefine the large passenger vehicle segment. The VLE is not merely an electrified version of the V-Class but a flagship of modern luxury, digital technology, and premium experiences.
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes-Benz VLE delivers a fully digital experience with the MBUX Hyperscreen spanning the entire dashboard, powered by the latest MB.OS operating system. The interior is designed for versatility, accommodating up to eight passengers, catering to both family needs and premium transport services.
The top-tier VLS variant is positioned as a “mobile lounge,” featuring independent rear seating and a large 4K entertainment screen, tailored for elite clients and VIP shuttle services.
What sets the VLE apart from conventional vans is its VAN.EA platform—a modular, all-electric architecture exclusively developed for passenger and commercial electric vehicles. This platform, distinct from internal combustion engine models, optimizes interior space and technology integration.
Powering the VLE are various motor configurations, ranging from a single to dual electric motors, delivering outputs from approximately 268 horsepower in the standard model to nearly 470 horsepower in premium versions. The vehicle features battery capacities between 90 kWh and 120 kWh, offering a WLTP range exceeding 500 km in the top model. All variants support rapid DC charging up to 350 kW, enabled by an 800V electrical architecture.
Mercedes-Benz confirms that internal combustion engine vans will remain in production but will be developed on a separate platform, entirely distinct from the VAN.EA architecture.
Full technical specifications for the VLE are expected to be revealed by Mercedes-Benz in March, ahead of its market launch.
