Recently, many people stumbled upon a new-generation Mitsubishi Outlander in Vietnam while it was awaiting registration completion.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that this vehicle belongs to an embassy and is not part of the official distribution network. The new Outlander is currently only sold by Mitsubishi in select markets, so its appearance in Vietnam quickly garnered attention.

The new Mitsubishi Outlander boasts overall dimensions of 4,719 x 1,862 x 1,750 mm, slightly larger than many C-segment crossovers like the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Hyundai Tucson. Its wheelbase measures 2,704 mm, longer than the CR-V and CX-5 but still shorter than spacious models like the Ford Territory, Hyundai Tucson, and Kia Sportage.

The exterior of the new Outlander continues the Dynamic Shield design language but with modern and sharper refinements. The front end impresses with layered LED headlights and an expanded grille, creating a commanding presence. The body features a boxy, angular design, with side mirrors detached from the A-pillar for optimized visibility. At the rear, slim taillights and a new exhaust system combine for a balanced and luxurious look.

The interior is where the most significant changes occur. Mitsubishi has completely redesigned it with a modern and premium feel, highlighted by a four-spoke steering wheel and a 12.3-inch center screen, replacing the previous 9-inch version. The new interface software ensures faster system response. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support wireless connectivity, and GPS navigation enhances the user experience.

On the premium version, the new Outlander offers advanced features such as a 12-speaker Yamaha sound system (replacing the previous Bose setup), ventilated front seats, and digital side mirrors. Semi-aniline leather, new graphics for the digital instrument cluster, and an in-cabin camera for driver fatigue warning further elevate this model toward the premium SUV segment.

In terms of performance, the new Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a 2.5L four-cylinder engine, delivering 181 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and offers an optional all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.

Mitsubishi has discontinued the Outlander in Vietnam, replacing it with the Destinator. This entirely new model is built on a more modern platform, offering a spacious interior and advanced safety technologies. The Destinator significantly rejuvenates Mitsubishi’s SUV lineup, presenting a fresher image compared to the previous-generation Outlander.
