As of November 2025, Vietnam’s automotive market has achieved a record-breaking sales figure of 522,644 vehicles.
This number not only surpasses the previous record of 509,141 vehicles sold in 2022 but also marks a significant milestone with a month left in the year.
Notably, these figures exclude sales from several Chinese brands like BYD, Omoda & Jaecoo, Geely, and European marques such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen.
Below are the key contributors to this impressive market performance:
VinFast: 147,450 vehicles
Leading the market is the electric vehicle brand VinFast. In November alone, VinFast recorded sales of 23,186 vehicles. From January to November 2025, VinFast delivered 147,450 vehicles, contributing nearly 28.2% to the total market sales.
Throughout 2025, several VinFast models consistently topped their respective segments. The VF 5 and VF 6 dominated their categories, while the VF 3 faced little direct competition. Notably, the Limo Green, targeting service-oriented customers, maintained strong growth and is poised to overtake Mitsubishi as the best-selling mainstream MPV.
Toyota: 63,625 vehicles
Following VinFast is Toyota, with cumulative sales of 63,625 vehicles over 11 months. While not leading the market, Toyota demonstrated consistent and robust sales, particularly in the mainstream segments. Strategic models like the Vios, Yaris Cross, Veloz Cross, and Innova Cross remained key contributors, while hybrid variants sustained Toyota’s appeal amid growing fuel efficiency and electrification trends.
Hyundai: 46,525 vehicles
Hyundai secured the next position with 46,525 vehicles sold in 11 months. The South Korean brand maintained a diverse portfolio, spanning sedans, SUVs, and MPVs. However, intensifying competition in core segments, particularly B-segment sedans and compact SUVs, is exerting significant pressure on Hyundai’s growth trajectory.
According to sales reports, the Accent and Creta remained key contributors, providing stable volumes. In higher segments, the Santa Fe and Tucson helped Hyundai maintain a presence in the mid-size SUV category, despite facing numerous upgraded competitors and price adjustments.
Ford: 44,307 vehicles
Ford ranked fourth with 44,307 vehicles sold in 11 months, showcasing its dominance in the pickup truck and large SUV segments. The Ranger remained the backbone of Ford’s sales in Vietnam, consistently among the top-selling vehicles. Additionally, the Everest solidified its position in the body-on-frame 7-seater SUV segment, ensuring Ford’s steady growth despite a limited product lineup.
Mitsubishi: 35,147 vehicles
Mitsubishi achieved sales of 35,147 vehicles, primarily driven by the Xpander and Xforce. The Xpander remained the top-selling MPV, especially popular among families and service providers. However, increasing competition from affordable electric and hybrid models is posing greater challenges for Mitsubishi in the latter half of the year.
Mazda: 27,785 vehicles
Mazda recorded sales of 27,785 vehicles in 11 months. The CX-5 remained the brand’s cornerstone, crucial for maintaining market share in the C-segment CUV category. However, with competitors continuously refreshing their lineups and offering incentives, Mazda needs more aggressive strategies, particularly in the mid-size SUV and electrified vehicle segments.
Honda: 25,129 vehicles
Honda achieved sales of 25,129 vehicles in 11 months, maintaining steady sales amid fierce competition. The Japanese brand offers a broad product range, from sedans and urban SUVs to mid-size SUVs and MPVs, catering to diverse customer groups.
Models like the City, HR-V, and CR-V remained sales pillars, leveraging brand reputation, durability, and resale value. Additionally, the Civic, Accord, and BR-V ensured Honda’s presence across multiple segments, despite modest volumes. To achieve breakthrough growth, Honda needs strategic price adjustments and product enhancements, especially as consumers become more cost-sensitive and electrification gains momentum.
Kia: 22,943 vehicles
Kia followed with 22,943 vehicles sold. Despite a diverse lineup spanning sedans and SUVs, Kia faced significant pressure from emerging competitors, particularly in the compact and mid-size SUV segments. Product refreshes and pricing strategies will be critical in determining Kia’s future market position.
Overall, the 11-month sales landscape indicates that Vietnam’s automotive market is entering a new growth phase, marked by the rise of electric vehicles and domestic brands. VinFast has emerged as a game-changer, while traditional brands must restructure their portfolios, accelerate electrification, and compete on value to retain market share in 2026.
