The Southeast Asian electric vehicle market has welcomed a promising new contender with the official launch of the iCaur V23 SUV.

This marks the second strategic move by the Chinese automaker to captivate Southeast Asian consumers, following the impressive debut of its sibling, the iCaur 03, in the third quarter.

The iCaur V23 is available in two primary variants: 2WD (rear-wheel drive) and iWD (all-wheel drive), priced at 119,800 ringgit and 132,800 ringgit, respectively (approximately $680 – $755 million VND).

Despite its compact length of 4,220 mm, the iCaur V23 boasts an impressive height of 1,845 mm and a wheelbase of 2,735 mm, exuding a commanding and sturdy presence. Its design seamlessly blends the rugged, boxy aesthetics of iconic off-road SUVs like the Mercedes-Benz G-Class with the sleekness of a modern urban vehicle. Features such as classic round headlights, angular wheel arches, and a side-opening rear door with an integrated storage box lend the V23 a rugged, adventurous appeal.

Inside the cabin, the iCaur V23 defies the trend of eliminating physical buttons. The automaker retains rotary dials and functional buttons for easy operation during off-road driving, alongside a massive 15.4-inch central touchscreen. The vehicle is generously equipped with premium features, including leather-upholstered power-adjustable ventilated seats, a 7-speaker sound system, and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity.

Both variants come standard with a comprehensive safety package, including 6 airbags, a 540-degree camera system, electronic stability control, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, traction control, and an advanced ADAS system with 12 features. The vehicle also supports V2L charging and includes a portable 3-prong charger.

In terms of performance, the standard 2WD model is equipped with a single electric motor on the rear axle, delivering 136 horsepower. This variant offers a range of 360 km on a full charge.

The premium iWD model, however, stands out with its dual-motor setup, producing a combined 211 horsepower. This enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds and achieve a range of up to 430 km (NEDC standard).

What truly sets the iCaur V23 apart is its remarkable off-road capabilities. With a ground clearance of 210 mm, approach and departure angles exceeding 40 degrees, and a wading depth of 600 mm, this vehicle is ready to tackle the most challenging terrains, outperforming most compact electric SUVs.

To bolster consumer confidence, iCaur offers an extended warranty of up to 7 years for the vehicle and 8 years for the battery in Malaysia. Notably, early buyers will enjoy an exclusive 10-year or 200,000 km warranty on the powertrain.
