Vietnam’s automotive market is closing out the final months of 2025 with an exceptionally impressive growth trajectory.
According to aggregated data up to November 2025, the market has sold 522,644 vehicles, officially surpassing the 2022 record of 509,141 units, even though 2025 has yet to conclude.
Notably, this figure excludes sales from major brands such as Chinese automakers (BYD, Omoda & Jaecoo, Geely) and European brands like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and Volkswagen, indicating the market’s actual scale could be significantly higher.
Below are the top contributing brands to the market’s overall sales:
VinFast: 147,450 units
The largest contributor to the market’s success is the electric vehicle brand VinFast. In November, VinFast recorded sales of 23,186 units. From the beginning of the year to November 2025, VinFast has delivered 147,450 vehicles to customers. With this achievement, VinFast holds a 28.2% market share nationwide, a significant shift toward green vehicles among consumers.
This success is driven by the popularity of flagship models like the VF 5 and VF 6, which consistently lead their respective segments. Meanwhile, the compact VF 3 dominates the mini electric vehicle category. Another standout is the Limo Green, targeting business service customers, which is experiencing rapid growth and challenging the long-standing dominance of Japanese brands in the affordable MPV segment.
Toyota: 63,625 units
Following VinFast is Toyota, with cumulative sales of 63,625 units after 11 months. While no longer the undisputed leader, the Japanese giant maintains its strength through a robust sales network and loyal customer base. Strategic models like the Vios, Yaris Cross, and the Veloz Cross and Innova Cross duos remain key pillars, ensuring stable sales. Toyota’s focus on hybrid vehicles has also enhanced its competitiveness in fuel efficiency amid fluctuating energy prices.
Hyundai: 46,525 units
Hyundai ranks third with 46,525 units sold after 11 months. The South Korean brand maintains a comprehensive product lineup, spanning sedans, SUVs, and MPVs. However, Hyundai faces intense competition from new entrants and frequent price adjustments in the market.
The Accent and Creta remain top-selling models, while the Santa Fe and Tucson bolster Hyundai’s presence in the mid-size SUV segment.
Ford: 44,307 units
In fourth place is Ford, with 44,307 units sold after 11 months. Ford continues to excel in the pickup truck and large SUV segments. The Ranger remains the brand’s sales backbone in Vietnam, consistently ranking among the top-selling vehicles. Meanwhile, the Everest strengthens its position in the 7-seater body-on-frame SUV segment, ensuring Ford’s steady growth despite a less diverse product range compared to Asian competitors.
Mitsubishi: 35,147 units
Rounding out the top five is Mitsubishi, with 35,147 units sold. The brand’s sales primarily rely on the Xpander and the newcomer Xforce. While the Xpander remains a strong contender among family and business customers, Mitsubishi is increasingly feeling the heat from affordable electric and hybrid competitors.
Overall, the 11-month sales performance highlights Vietnam’s automotive market entering a robust growth phase, with a clear shift in product composition and the growing role of electric vehicles. VinFast’s rise to the top, alongside stable sales from traditional brands, signals a new era of competition where scale, technology, and adaptability to consumer trends will define each brand’s future position.
