Vietnam’s electric motorcycle market enters its peak year-end shopping season with notable promotions, particularly in the affordable electric bike segment, which is witnessing significant price adjustments.

Two models that have been making headlines recently are the Honda Icon e: and Evo Grand Lite. Both are offering attractive incentives to boost sales and expand their customer base during this critical period.

The Honda Icon e: is now available at a substantial discount compared to its launch price. Initially introduced at around 27 million VND, with a battery rental option at 350,000 VND per month, it is now discounted by over 10 million VND, bringing the actual price down to approximately 17 million VND. This is the lowest price since its market debut, making Honda’s first electric motorcycle in Vietnam more accessible to the general public.

The Icon e: maintains its dual battery policy. Customers can either rent the battery for a fixed monthly fee, ideal for those looking to minimize upfront costs and not concerned with battery ownership, or purchase the NMC battery with a capacity of approximately 1.4 kWh for nearly 10 million VND, which comes with a one-year warranty. Including the battery cost, the total ownership value remains around 26-27 million VND, offering buyers flexibility based on their usage needs.

With its significant price reduction, the Icon e: continues to leverage Honda’s brand strengths. Its neutral design appeals to a wide range of urban users, and its build quality and performance provide reassurance for those transitioning from gasoline to electric vehicles. However, its battery capacity and range are moderate, primarily suited for daily urban commuting.

Meanwhile, the VinFast Evo Grand Lite is also offering year-end promotions with an attractive price point. Originally priced at around 18 million VND, a 12% discount until December 31 brings the price down to approximately 15.84 million VND, inclusive of the battery. This makes it easier for consumers to estimate their initial costs without worrying about additional battery rental or purchase options.

Powered by a 1,900W in-hub motor in the rear wheel, the Evo Grand Lite has an electronically limited top speed of 48 km/h, suitable for students or those without a driver’s license. It comes with a 1.2 kWh battery, offering a range of 70 km per full charge. Customers can also purchase an additional 2.4 kWh battery, extending the maximum range to 198 km per charge.

Overall, these year-end promotions have made both the Honda Icon e: and Evo Grand Lite significantly more competitive compared to earlier in the year. The Icon e: stands out with its deep discounts, strong brand reputation, and familiar user experience, while the Evo Grand Lite attracts attention with its low price, high-capacity battery, and extended warranty. In an increasingly competitive electric motorcycle market, these promotions not only make electric bikes more accessible but also reflect a shift in competition focus from technology and design to cost-effectiveness and real value.
