VinFast is reportedly set to introduce a new variant of its EC Van electric vehicle, featuring a notable upgrade: a sliding side door.
Dealer information suggests that this all-electric van is poised for a significant transformation to enhance its practicality. Instead of relying solely on the rear hatch for loading and unloading, the new sliding side door design will allow users to optimize cargo arrangement, particularly in tight urban spaces.
While VinFast has yet to officially confirm, the anticipated price for this variant is around 325 million VND. This strategic move aims to boost competitiveness against its direct rival in the compact van segment, the Suzuki Eeco Van, which also features a sliding door and is priced at 310 million VND.
Currently, the EC Van is available in two versions: a standard model priced at 285 million VND and a premium model with air conditioning for 305 million VND.
In terms of specifications, the EC Van measures 3,767 mm in length, 1,680 mm in width, and 1,790 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,520 mm. Compared to the popular VF 3 electric vehicle, the EC Van is significantly longer, prioritizing cargo space with a capacity of up to 2,600 liters and a permissible load of 600 kg.
The vehicle maintains a minimalist design to optimize operational costs for businesses. Exterior features include halogen headlights, manually adjustable side mirrors, and 14-inch steel rims. Inside, the cabin is designed for functionality, featuring two fabric-covered seats, a two-spoke steering wheel with minimal buttons, and a center control panel with manual rotary dials.
Powered by an electric motor delivering a maximum output of 40 horsepower and 110 Nm of torque, the EC Van achieves a top speed of 75 km/h. Equipped with a 17 kWh battery pack, it offers a range of 150 km on a single full charge. The fast-charging capability is impressive, taking just 42 minutes to charge from 10% to 70% using a 19.4 kW charging station.
The upgrade to the EC Van underscores VinFast’s commitment to refining its product lineup based on market feedback. Beyond commercial vehicles, rumors suggest that passenger models like the VF 3 and Limo Green will also receive updates, including electric mirrors, reverse cameras, and Apple CarPlay connectivity, to better serve family and service-oriented customers this year.
