Vietnam’s automotive market is buzzing with excitement as leaked images from a recent THACO Auto internal event confirm the impending arrival of the Kia Tasman.

Previously, the Kia Tasman made waves when it appeared in Pleiku, Gia Lai, bearing Cambodian license plates. Now, its inclusion in THACO’s strategic lineup signals an imminent launch for Vietnamese customers.

Leaked photos reveal the Kia Tasman at the event as the top-tier X-Pro variant, optimized for off-road adventures. Distinguished from standard models, the X-Pro boasts all-black alloy wheels, a rugged front bumper, and an underbody protection system.

Built on a traditional body-on-frame chassis, the Tasman ensures durability and load-bearing capacity across challenging terrains. Its dimensions measure 5,410mm in length, 1,930mm in width, and a 3,270mm wheelbase. The X-Pro variant stands taller at 1,920mm, offering a generous 252mm ground clearance. Beyond its ruggedness, the Tasman is practical, featuring a 1,173-liter cargo bed with a sliding floor, integrated lighting, and AC power outlets, catering to both work and extended outdoor trips.

A standout feature of the Kia Tasman is its 800mm water fording capability, enabled by high-mounted air intakes and advanced cabin waterproofing.

Power options vary by market, including a 2.5L gasoline engine delivering 281 hp and a 2.2L turbocharged diesel engine producing 210 hp. While the gasoline variant prioritizes smooth acceleration, the diesel offers fuel efficiency at approximately 7.5 L/100km, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission.

True to its pickup truck DNA, the Tasman X-Pro features standard all-wheel drive and three driving modes: Eco, Smart, and Sport. Its terrain-specific modes—Sand, Mud, and Snow—enhance versatility, while the exclusive Rock mode equips adventurers to tackle the toughest trails. With a payload capacity exceeding one ton and a maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tons, the Kia Tasman is poised to challenge competitors and reshape Vietnam’s pickup truck segment.
