At the Montreal Auto Show, Mitsubishi officially unveiled the 2026 Outlander PHEV, introducing significant upgrades in technology and user experience.
Priced starting at $50,498 USD (approximately 1.42 billion VND), the new model is about $2,000 USD (52.54 million VND) more than its predecessor. This strategic move by the Japanese automaker aims to refresh its product lineup and maintain the appeal of its best-selling model in North America. The enhancements go beyond aesthetics, focusing on an electrified powertrain that directly addresses consumer expectations for a more modern SUV.
In this mid-cycle refresh, the 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV offers a fresh look with modern wheel designs and refined exterior accents. However, the core value lies beneath the surface.
Mitsubishi’s engineers have fine-tuned the suspension and steering systems, delivering a smoother ride on challenging terrains while significantly improving control and stability for the driver. This effort aims to dispel perceptions of outdated design, positioning the Outlander PHEV as a more competitive choice in driving dynamics.
Inside, the most notable change is the redesigned center console, crafted based on consumer feedback to enhance practicality. The interior exudes luxury with new color options and premium leather upholstery. A standout feature is the standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen across all trims, paired with a digital instrument cluster featuring striking new graphics. Additionally, the collaboration with Yamaha has elevated the audio experience, ensuring passengers enjoy premium sound quality.
The 2026 Outlander PHEV retains its 2.4L gasoline engine paired with two electric motors, producing a combined 248 horsepower. The highlight is the upgraded 22.7 kWh battery, up from 20 kWh in the 2025 model. This enhancement extends the all-electric range to 72 km, an 18% increase. While the combined range sees a slight uptick to 690 km due to a smaller fuel tank, the new battery delivers higher output, ensuring smoother and more powerful electrified driving.
Mitsubishi plans to begin deliveries of the 2026 Outlander PHEV in North America starting February. Following the Canadian pricing announcement, attention now shifts to the U.S. market. The U.S. price is expected to be around $42,000 USD (approximately 1.10 billion VND), higher than the Canadian equivalent due to tax policies, import fees, and market positioning.
