China’s luxury car market has witnessed a historic milestone as the Maextro S800 creates a sales earthquake.

In December 2025 alone, this electric sedan set a new record by surpassing the combined sales of three iconic names: Porsche Panamera, BMW 7 Series, and Maybach S-Class. This achievement marks a significant shift in the preferences of China’s elite.

Specifically, in the final month of 2025, the Maextro S800 recorded sales of 4,376 units, a staggering 104% increase from the previous month. This performance makes the S800 the best-selling luxury sedan in the segment above 700,000 RMB (approximately $100,000) in China. In contrast, established luxury brands are facing unprecedented pressure. The Porsche Panamera holds second place but lags far behind with 1,593 units, while the BMW 7 Series and Maybach S-Class trail further. Collectively, these three European models sold 4,140 units, still falling short of the Maextro S800’s sales.

Consumers in China are increasingly prioritizing advanced technology and smart ecosystems provided by Huawei over traditional brand loyalty. While domestic competitors like BYD’s Yangwang U7 and Nio’s ET9 struggle with modest sales of 333 and 185 units respectively, the S800 has surged ahead by leveraging Huawei’s extensive HIMA distribution network.

The Maextro S800’s prestige is not just reflected in sales figures but also in its elite customer base. A memorable milestone was achieved on December 16, 2025, when the 10,000th unit rolled off the production line, delivered to international film star Jet Li. The trust placed in the S800 by influential figures like Jet Li underscores its appeal to the ultra-wealthy. To date, 11,453 Maextro S800s have hit the roads, solidifying consumer confidence in this fully “Made in China” luxury electric vehicle.

The Maextro S800 impresses with its F-segment sedan dimensions, boasting a length of 5,480 mm and a wheelbase of 3,370 mm, offering an exceptionally luxurious interior. The highlight of the cabin is its “tech sky,” featuring a 15.6-inch central screen and a 16-inch VIP screen, seamlessly integrating Huawei’s top-tier amenities.

In terms of performance, customers can choose between two drivetrains. The pure electric version (BEV) is equipped with dual motors delivering 523 horsepower, paired with a 95 kWh battery for a range of 702 km. The extended-range electric version (EREV) features three motors, producing a total of 852 horsepower, along with a 1.5L engine acting as a generator, eliminating range anxiety for long journeys.
