Compact SUV Sales in December 2025 (units: vehicles)
Mazda CX-5: 2,596 Units
In December 2025, Mazda sold 2,596 CX-5 units to Vietnamese customers, a remarkable 46.9% increase. This was the highest monthly sales figure for this model in 2025. The cumulative sales for the year reached 17,262 units. Not only does the Mazda CX-5 lead the compact SUV segment, but it’s also one of the best-selling vehicles in Vietnam for 2025.

Mazda CX-5
The Mazda CX-5’s success can be attributed to its appealing design, rich features, and, most notably, its highly competitive pricing, starting from just 749 to 979 million VND. Over the past few months, the vehicle has been offered at a discounted price of 709 million VND, making it even more attractive to buyers.
The Mazda CX-5 in Vietnam offers two gasoline engine options: a 2.0L and a 2.5L. These engines deliver 154 hp/200 Nm and 188 hp/252 Nm, respectively. They are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD).
Mitsubishi Destinator: 2,377 Units
The Mitsubishi Destinator, launched in Vietnam in December 2025, made an immediate impact. In its first month, it sold an impressive 2,377 units, closely trailing the Mazda CX-5. Meanwhile, its sibling, the Mitsubishi Outlander, continued to struggle, with no sales recorded. The Outlander’s cumulative sales for 2025 stood at a mere 362 units.

Mitsubishi Destinator
The Mitsubishi Destinator was introduced as a replacement for the Outlander and is also considered a 7-seater version of the Mitsubishi Xforce. Therefore, its rapid success in the Vietnamese market comes as no surprise.
The Destinator follows a similar formula to the Xforce: eye-catching design, rich features, and attractive pricing, ranging from 780 to 855 million VND. However, at dealerships, it’s offered at a discounted price of 745 to 820 million VND.
The Mitsubishi Destinator is powered by a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 163 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. This engine is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and front-wheel drive. Its average fuel consumption is 6.2 L/100 km. The vehicle offers various driving modes, including Asphalt, Standard, Wet, Gravel, and Mud.
Ford Territory: 1,662 Units
The arrival of the Mitsubishi Destinator pushed the Ford Territory to third place in the compact SUV segment in terms of sales. The American model sold 1,662 units, a 7.9% increase. Its cumulative sales for 2025 reached 12,786 units, securing second place in the compact SUV segment.

Ford Territory
In 2025, the Ford Territory received a mid-life upgrade in Vietnam, which helped boost its sales. The new version maintains its well-equipped and stylish design while keeping the price reasonable, ranging from 762 to 896 million VND.
Powering the Ford Territory is a 1.5L turbocharged EcoBoost 4-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering a maximum output of 160 hp and a peak torque of 248 Nm. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive (FWD).
Hyundai Tucson: 1,401 Units
Right behind the Ford Territory is the Hyundai Tucson, which overtook the VinFast VF 7 from the previous month. In December 2025, this South Korean model sold 1,401 units, a 39.7% increase. This brought its cumulative sales for 2025 to 9,243 units, placing it fourth in the compact SUV segment, after the Mazda CX-5, Ford Territory, and VinFast VF 7.

Hyundai Tucson
In 2025, the Tucson was Hyundai’s best-selling model in Vietnam. This success can be attributed to its new design and features in the upgraded version, along with its attractive pricing, ranging from 769 to 989 million VND.
The Hyundai Tucson offers three engine options: a 2.0L MPI Smartstream gasoline engine, a 2.0L Smartstream Diesel engine, and a 1.6L T-GDi turbocharged gasoline engine. These engines produce 156 hp/192 Nm, 186 hp/416 Nm, and 180 hp/265 Nm, respectively. They are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission, an 8-speed automatic transmission, or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT).
VinFast VF 7: 1,361 Units
The VinFast VF 7 secured fourth place in the compact SUV segment in December 2025, selling 1,361 units, an 11.1% increase. Its cumulative sales for 2025 reached 9,653 units, placing it third in the segment.

VinFast VF 7
The VinFast VF 7 has several advantages that appeal to Vietnamese buyers, including its impressive design, comprehensive features, and pricing that includes the battery, ranging from 799 to 999 million VND. Additionally, it offers low operating costs, a nationwide charging station network, and a free charging program for VinFast vehicles until June 30, 2027.
The VinFast VF 7 is available in three versions: Eco, Plus 1-axle, and Plus 2-axle. The standard Eco version is equipped with a single electric motor delivering a maximum output of 174 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm. This motor is paired with a 59.6 kWh battery, providing a maximum range of 375 km on a single charge according to the WLTP standard.
The Plus version features two electric motors with a combined output of 349 hp and a peak torque of 500 Nm. The Plus version uses a 75.3 kWh battery, offering a maximum range of approximately 431 km on a single charge.
Honda CR-V: 681 Units
In December 2025, the Honda CR-V experienced a modest 5% increase in sales, reaching 681 units. Its cumulative sales for 2025 stood at 6,224 units, placing it fifth in the compact SUV segment.

Honda CR-V
The Honda CR-V in Vietnam doesn’t have a pricing advantage, with a range of 1.029 to 1.259 billion VND. However, it compensates with its highly regarded design, features, and driving experience. Notably, it’s one of the few compact SUVs in Vietnam equipped with a hybrid powertrain.
The Honda CR-V’s hybrid system combines a 2.0L 4-cylinder gasoline engine producing 146 hp with two electric motors generating a combined output of 181 hp. Together, they deliver a total output of 204 hp and a peak torque of 335 Nm.
Other versions of the CR-V are equipped with a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine, producing a maximum output of 188 hp and a peak torque of 240 Nm. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
This year, the Honda CR-V hybrid version will be locally assembled in Vietnam. Additionally, Honda will introduce a more affordable hybrid variant, expanding options for Vietnamese buyers.
Kia Sportage: 275 Units
The Kia Sportage ranked last in the compact SUV segment in terms of sales, with 275 units sold, a 20% increase. However, its cumulative sales for 2025 were modest, reaching only 2,150 units.

Kia Sportage
The Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson are developed and produced by the same conglomerate. However, the Sportage lags in sales compared to the Tucson, partly due to its less universally appealing design and higher pricing, ranging from 819 million to 1.009 billion VND.
The Kia Sportage offers the same three engine options as the Hyundai Tucson.
