According to recent reports, Mitsubishi is gearing up to launch an all-new, fully electric hatchback by late 2026.
This strategic model is built upon the foundation of the Foxtron Bria, which debuted in Taiwan just weeks ago.
While the official international name remains unconfirmed, Mitsubishi’s trademark filings for ASX GT-e and ASX VR-e hint at a sporty direction. Notably, the “VR-e” suffix has enthusiasts speculating it will carry forward the legacy of the iconic VR-X variants from the past.
Sharing the same platform as the Foxtron Bria, the new electric hatchback will measure 4,315 mm in length with a 2,800 mm wheelbase. These dimensions position it directly against C-segment competitors like the Toyota Corolla and Volkswagen Golf.
Aesthetically, the new Mitsubishi electric vehicle will draw inspiration from the renowned Italian design studio Pininfarina. Expect a modern exterior reminiscent of the Foxtron Bria, featuring a full-width LED light bar, flush door handles, and aerodynamically optimized details. The interior is equally tech-forward, boasting a 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a crisp digital instrument cluster. Advanced safety features such as adaptive cruise control and a 360-degree camera system further enhance its appeal.
The most exciting aspect of this new hatchback is its powertrain options. The base model is expected to feature a single rear-mounted motor delivering 229 horsepower, while the top-tier variant will offer a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup, pushing total output beyond 400 horsepower. This enables a blistering 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds, rivaling many dedicated sports cars. All versions will be equipped with a 57.5 kWh LFP battery, providing a practical range of 400 to 430 km under the WLTP cycle.
Before its official launch in late 2026, Mitsubishi plans to fine-tune the suspension and steering systems to better suit the driving conditions of specific markets.
