The year 2025 marks a historic turning point for Vietnam’s automotive industry, as the market landscape undergoes an unprecedented structural shift.

No longer a distant forecast, the electric vehicle wave has officially established a new order, directly challenging and dethroning many long-standing gasoline-powered “icons.”

Below are the top-selling models in each segment for 2025:

A-Segment Cars: VinFast VF 3, Hyundai i10 (Internal Combustion Engine)

In the compact urban car segment, the VinFast VF 3 has created an unprecedented phenomenon. Despite its mini size, this model has “captured” the entire traditional customer base of the A-segment, achieving a record-breaking sales figure of 44,585 units, far surpassing the combined sales of all gasoline-powered competitors. Its price advantage, low operating costs, and strong brand presence have made the VF 3 a popular choice among young first-time car buyers and families seeking an additional flexible urban vehicle.

Among gasoline-powered vehicles, the Hyundai Grand i10 continues to lead with 3,358 units sold, significantly outpacing the Toyota Wigo (2,395) and Kia Morning (288). Thanks to stable supply and an extensive after-sales network, the Grand i10 has cemented its position as the top-selling gasoline-powered car in the A-segment for 2025.

B-Segment Sedans: Toyota Vios

In the B-segment sedan category, traditional values are still holding their ground. The “sales king” Toyota Vios continues to dominate with 13,424 units sold, leaving the Honda City far behind thanks to extensive promotional campaigns. The Toyota Vios is currently assembled domestically, with prices ranging from 479 to 600 million VND.

C-Segment Sedans: Mazda 3

Despite the shrinking market share of C-segment sedans, the Mazda 3 maintains a steady performance with 2,969 units sold, significantly outperforming the Kia K3 (1,682 units). Other models like the Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, and Toyota Corolla Altis primarily cater to niche customers, making the Mazda 3 the top contender in this segment for the year.

D-Segment Sedans: Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry continues to dominate the D-segment sedan category with a cumulative 11-month sales figure of 2,489 units, far ahead of the Kia K5 and Mazda 6. While these numbers aren’t enough to return the Camry to its golden era, they account for nearly 70% of the D-segment sedan market share. Currently, the sales of competitors in the same price range are equally lackluster.

Compact MPVs: VinFast Limo Green, Mitsubishi Xpander (Internal Combustion Engine)

Launched in Q1/2025 but only starting deliveries in August of the same year, the VinFast Limo Green quickly made its mark. With its 7-seat electric MPV design, suitable for families and transportation services, the Limo Green saw strong growth in the latter part of the year. By the end of 2025, it achieved sales of 27,127 units, becoming the best-selling electric vehicle in the compact MPV segment.

Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Xpander maintains its dominance in the gasoline-powered segment with 19,891 units sold, thanks to its practicality and proven durability. The vehicle is available in both domestically assembled and Indonesian-imported versions, with prices ranging from 560 to 703 million VND.

A-Segment CUV/SUVs: VinFast VF 5, Kia Sonet (Internal Combustion Engine)

The VinFast VF 5 continues to lead the A-segment CUV/SUV category with cumulative sales of 43,913 units in 2025, an increase of approximately 12,000 units compared to the previous year. As a 5-seat crossover, the VF 5 meets both personal and commercial service needs. It is currently distributed by VinFast at a price of 529 million VND.

Meanwhile, the Kia Sonet remains the top choice in the gasoline-powered segment of the same size, with sales of 5,944 units. In the Vietnamese market, the Kia Sonet is offered in 3 versions, with a starting price of 539 million VND.

B-Segment CUV/SUVs: VinFast VF 6, Mitsubishi Xforce (Internal Combustion Engine)

The VinFast VF 6 recorded impressive growth with 23,291 units sold in 2025. In the highly competitive B-segment crossover category, the VF 6 stands out with its sleek, European-inspired design and powerful performance. It is currently available in two versions, priced from 694 to 759 million VND.

In the gasoline-powered segment, the Mitsubishi Xforce unexpectedly emerged as the best-selling model with cumulative sales of 15,254 units. It is currently available in 4 versions, priced from 599 to 710 million VND.

C-Segment SUVs: Mazda CX-5

With sales of 17,262 units, the Mazda CX-5 had an impressive growth year (an increase of nearly 2,500 units compared to 2024). This success is largely attributed to THACO Auto’s aggressive pricing strategy, which saw the CX-5’s actual selling price drop below 700 million VND at times, creating immense pressure on competitors. This SUV is currently assembled domestically, with prices ranging from 749 to 979 million VND.

D-Segment SUVs: Ford Everest

By the end of 2025, the Ford Everest recorded sales of 13,056 units, completely dominating competitors like the Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-8 to lead the segment. In Vietnam, this model is currently available in 5 versions, with prices ranging from 1.099 to 1.545 billion VND.

Pickup Trucks: Ford Ranger

The Ford Ranger continues to hold its position as Vietnam’s best-selling pickup truck. By the end of 2025, it recorded sales of 18,692 units, an increase of 1,184 units compared to the previous year. The Ranger is currently distributed in 10 versions, with prices ranging from 669 million to 1.039 billion VND; the Ranger Raptor is priced from 1.299 billion VND.

Overall, the 2025 market shows that electric vehicles are no longer just “challengers” but have become leaders in many key segments. This marks an important foundation for the deeper restructuring of Vietnam’s automotive industry in the coming years, as the competition between electric and internal combustion engine vehicles enters a completely new phase.
