Geely Holding Group has unveiled an ambitious roadmap, setting a sales target of 6.5 million vehicles by 2030.
This figure is not merely an indicator of growth but a gateway for the Chinese automaker to join the ranks of the world’s top five car manufacturers. To achieve this vision, Geely anticipates that international markets will contribute approximately one-third of total sales by the end of the decade, propelling annual revenue beyond 1.000 trillion NDT, equivalent to over 143 billion USD.
Accelerated Roadmap and Leadership Position
In reality, the foundation for Geely’s confidence in realizing this ambition was laid long ago. By 2025, the combined sales of its ecosystem brands, including Geely Auto, Zeekr, and Volvo, are projected to surpass 4 million units annually, securing the company’s position as the 7th largest automaker globally. After overtaking Volkswagen as the best-selling car brand in its domestic market last year, Geely is spearheading the expansion of Chinese manufacturers into promising regions such as Southeast Asia and Latin America.
Intense Competition Among New-Generation Vehicles
The global automotive market is witnessing the rapid rise of new players, intensifying competition like never before. Beyond competing with established giants, Geely must also be wary of emerging contenders like Leapmotor. This decade-old brand has announced its goal to enter the top 10 global manufacturers within the next decade, targeting 4 million annual sales. This dynamic underscores the fierce battle for supremacy in the global automotive industry.
New Energy Technologies and International Alliances
The key to Geely’s competitive edge lies in its development of new energy vehicle (NEV) architectures spanning segments A to E. This strategy not only shortens research and development cycles but also reduces average production costs by over 30% per model. Alongside internal innovation, Geely is strengthening partnerships with international conglomerates, notably Renault Group. These collaborations enable joint development and production of vehicles on Geely’s technological platforms, driving significant growth in overseas markets.
