The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is a rare gem, no matter how you look at it. Mercedes produced only 28 units of the CLK GTR, as commercial car production was necessary for the race car to meet GT1 standards. Thus, the street-legal CLK GTR emerged as a testbed for the mandatory race variants, and today, it stands as an incredibly rare and expensive collector’s item.

Mercedes manufactured just 20 coupes, 6 roadsters, and 2 prototypes for development. Two of these CLK GTRs left the factory with the “SuperSport” configuration.
The featured car is one of the six roadsters produced in Affalterbach, Germany. What makes it even more special is that it’s the second CLK GTR ever built. Its rarity is further amplified by being the only right-hand drive convertible ever produced. Mercedes also crafted a right-hand drive coupe variant.
This one-of-a-kind vehicle was spotted cruising the streets of Cernobbio, lakeside. It boasts a unique steel gray exterior and reportedly features a factory-spec lotus pink interior.
Originally commissioned by Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei, the car’s delivery was canceled due to financial scandals involving his brother, the Sultan of Brunei, at the time of handover.

Stored at Automobil Manufatur in Singapore, the car remained in the showroom until 2009. Nearly 17 years ago, it was auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in London.
Former Force India F1 team owner Vijay Mallya placed the winning bid of £616,000 (approximately $840,000) and took it home.
He sold it in 2016. Seven years later, it underwent a complete restoration by DK Engineering. The restoration experts fitted it with deep blue leather and tartan fabric upholstery while overhauling the engine.

The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.9-liter V12 engine, delivering 622 horsepower (631 PS) and 549 lb-ft (731 Nm) of torque. A six-speed sequential manual gearbox with a four-disc carbon clutch sends power to the rear wheels.
This street-legal CLK GTR accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in a staggering 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h). This is the very unicorn spotted roaring through the streets of Cernobbio, Italy, its V12 engine echoing with authority.
