Thanks to the growing appeal of VinFast electric motorbikes, the revenue of Trinh Huy Hieu’s 16 showrooms across Vietnam has skyrocketed in just a few years.

This success further solidifies his confidence in the business path he chose.

Convinced by VinFast’s Quality

Before fully committing to VinFast electric motorbikes in 2021, Hieu distributed various other brands. What prompted him to shift focus when electric bikes from lesser-known brands and 50cc student bikes were still popular?

I come from a technical background, starting as a mechanic. When I look at a bike, the first thing I consider is its quality, finish, and how it’s manufactured. Previously, most electric bikes in Vietnam were assembled from imported parts, resulting in quick, cheap student models with significant risks in durability, parts availability, and after-sales service.

When VinFast launched its electric motorbikes, I was impressed by the meticulous attention to detail and their unique approach compared to the market. In 2022, I decided to open an official VinFast showroom. Many acquaintances called me “foolish” because Chinese electric bikes were still selling well, but I believed that choosing a different path was worth it.

At that time, VinFast was still a relatively new name. What gave you the confidence that this wasn’t just a contrarian choice but a sustainable and successful direction?

I was confident because my technical expertise allowed me to recognize the quality of VinFast’s bikes. VinFast produces bikes with a comprehensive warranty, maintenance, parts, and infrastructure system. In contrast, many other brands sell bikes that, after 1-2 years, no longer have replacement parts, leaving customers stranded. Sometimes, I felt embarrassed selling those bikes.

I’ve always believed that selling fewer but reliable bikes is better than selling many that disappoint customers. Reality has proven that VinFast is on the right track, as more people trust and choose their products.

How has this confidence been validated in your sales performance?

Since switching to VinFast, I can confirm that scale, revenue, and stability have significantly improved. With 16 showrooms nationwide, our system’s revenue reached approximately 70 billion VND in 2024. By 2025, this figure soared to nearly 500 billion VND.

“Think Electric Bikes, Think VinFast”

Having worked in the electric motorbike industry for years, how have you seen market trends and consumer preferences evolve?

Initially, electric bikes targeted students and young adults. Now, about 70% of customers are working professionals, delivery riders, and shippers, while the remaining 30% are students. Additionally, homemakers and seniors are buying bikes due to their lightweight, clean, odorless design, and indoor storage convenience.

I believe that as the user base expands and potential is realized, people will associate electric bikes with VinFast. I’m confident the brand can capture over 80% of the electric motorbike market.

Is 80% market share overly ambitious, given Vietnam’s decades-long established motorcycle market dominated by foreign brands?

Not at all. My confidence stems from VinFast’s quality, safety, and especially its battery technology. VinFast uses LFP batteries, considered the safest available. The battery determines range, lifespan, and user peace of mind. Once customers understand this, they’re reassured in their choice.

Most customers at our showrooms are satisfied, with many joking, “Wish I’d bought one sooner.” Numerous families initially buy a bike for their child’s commute, only to switch the entire household to electric bikes later.

After this rapid growth phase, what’s your top priority for the upcoming business plan?

As a distributor, in 2026, we’ll focus on enhancing service quality and customer experience. Once operations are optimized, we’ll consider expanding our showroom network.

The opportunity for distributors like us is immense, as VinFast aims to sell 1.5 million electric motorbikes in 2026. I believe this goal is achievable if two conditions are met: increased consumer awareness of electric bikes and a stable service network. After years of operation, our after-sales service, repairs, and parts support have improved significantly, enhancing the overall customer experience.
