Chery has submitted a recall plan to China’s State Administration for Market Regulation for certain vehicles due to identified potential safety defects. According to Y-Auto, the recall was registered under code S2026M0007V on January 23, 2026, in China.
This recall affects 1,108 vehicles, including the Chery Tansuo 06 and the all-new Tiggo 7 1.6T, manufactured between April 1 and December 8, 2025. The Tansuo 06 is currently being exported and distributed in international markets like Vietnam under the name Jaecoo J7. Both models belong to Chery’s C-segment SUV lineup in China.
The Chery Tiggo 7 1.6T includes variants such as the Tiggo 7 Sport and Tiggo 7 Plus, priced between 87,900 and 91,900 Chinese Yuan (approximately $11,300 to $11,800). The Jaecoo J7, equipped with a 1.6T engine, has a top price of 139,900 Chinese Yuan (around $18,000) in the Chinese market.
According to Chery, the clamp securing the wiring harness of the Engine Control Unit (ECU) in some affected vehicles may have been improperly fixed during manufacturing. This inadequate securing could lead to wire harness abrasion over time. If the wear exceeds limits, the vehicle may stall while in motion, posing a safety risk to occupants and other road users.
Chery will conduct free inspections of the ECU wiring harness assembly on all recalled vehicles. If the clamp is found to be incorrectly installed or the wiring shows damage, the company will repair or replace the components at no cost to customers. Vehicle owners will be notified through authorized dealers via registered mail, phone calls, or text messages. The recall takes effect immediately from January 23, 2026.
Both the Jaecoo J7 and Chery Tiggo 7 1.6T are C-segment SUVs powered by a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, delivering up to 194 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. These models share similar dimensions, seating capacity, and performance, playing a key role in Chery’s SUV strategy in China.
It remains unclear whether the recall in China will impact Jaecoo J7 units sold in Vietnam. In Vietnam, the Jaecoo J7 is available in three variants: Flagship, Flagship PHEV, and AWD Individual, priced at 799 million, 849 million, and 969 million Vietnamese Dong, respectively.
The Flagship and AWD Individual variants feature the same 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine. Meanwhile, the Flagship PHEV variant is equipped with the Super Hybrid System (SHS), combining a 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor, producing a combined output of 342 horsepower and 525 Nm of torque. It also features a dedicated hybrid transmission and an 18.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
This setup allows the Jaecoo J7 PHEV to travel up to 90 km on electric power alone and achieve a combined fuel efficiency of 1 liter per 100 km when using both the gasoline engine and electric motor. With a full charge and a full tank of fuel, the vehicle can cover up to 1,300 km under the WLTP standard.
