Over the past few decades, technological advancements in the automotive industry have made it increasingly common for vehicles to surpass 200,000 miles (approximately 320,000 km) with proper maintenance. While durability isn’t guaranteed, drivers can minimize risks by choosing models renowned for reliability. That’s where Consumer Reports steps in.

This nonprofit market research organization ranked the 2025 models most likely to reach 200,000 miles based on user surveys. Unsurprisingly, Toyota dominates with 8 out of 12 spots. The list also includes 2 Honda models, 1 Ford, and 1 Chevrolet.

Below are the 5 most durable Toyota models of 2025, capable of effortlessly surpassing 200,000 miles according to Consumer Reports.

Toyota Tacoma 2025

Durability has long been a hallmark of the Toyota Tacoma, with nearly every generation earning a spot on this list. Many Tacomas have exceeded 200,000 miles, including a 2008 model featured on ToyotaJeff Reviews with over 1.5 million miles (2.5 million km) on the odometer.

Toyota Tacoma 2025

The 2025 Tacoma ranks 7th among Consumer Reports’ 12 most reliable vehicles, boasting above-average dependability. This midsize pickup also excels in user satisfaction, thanks to its robust off-road capabilities and intuitive controls.

Following a complete redesign in 2024, the Tacoma retains its fresh styling while offering modern tech and three 2.4L turbocharged engine options. The base model delivers 228 hp with a 10.23 L/100 km fuel efficiency. Higher trims offer 270 hp or 278 hp, paired with a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid i-Force Max variant combines for 326 hp and 630 Nm of torque.

Toyota Highlander 2025

Compared to the Tacoma, the fourth-generation Toyota Highlander has enjoyed a longer market presence, benefiting from significant refinements—most notably the 2023 mid-cycle update. The biggest change is the new 2.4L turbocharged engine, which delivers better torque, improved fuel efficiency, and a 50% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to the previous 3.5L V6.

Toyota Highlander 2025

Despite upgrades, the Highlander’s inherent durability remains intact. It ranks 6th in Consumer Reports’ 2025 reliability survey, slightly outperforming the Tacoma. Users praise its comfortable ride and spacious second-row seating.

However, the 2025 Highlander isn’t flawless. Consumer Reports notes the new turbo engine feels less refined than the old V6, the infotainment system lacks user-friendliness, and the third row is tighter than competitors’ midsize SUVs.

Toyota Corolla 2025

While not the most thrilling drive, the Toyota Corolla is a durability legend. Across generations, it has proven its reliability, often clocking hundreds of thousands of miles with proper care. Many Corollas have surpassed 500,000 miles (800,000 km).

Toyota Corolla 2025

The 2025 Corolla excels in Consumer Reports’ reliability survey. Since its launch, it has had only one recall, and complaints on the NHTSA website are minimal.

Even when issues arise, repairs are affordable. According to RepairPal, the Corolla’s average annual repair cost is $362, $79 less than other Toyotas.

Toyota Prius 2025

Since its 1997 debut, the Prius has popularized self-charging hybrid technology and earned a reputation for reliability. The second and fourth generations are particularly renowned for durability, with many exceeding 500,000 miles.

Toyota Prius 2025

The fifth-generation Prius continues this legacy, ranking 4th in Consumer Reports’ reliability list with above-average scores in both dependability and owner satisfaction.

Beyond durability, the Prius is incredibly fuel-efficient. In its most efficient configuration, it averages just 4.1 L/100 km.

Toyota Camry 2025

Topping Consumer Reports’ 2025 reliability rankings is the Toyota Camry, surpassing even the Honda CR-V. This is no surprise, given the Camry’s long-standing reputation for durability.

Toyota Camry 2025

The 2025 Camry achieves top marks for reliability and owner satisfaction. Notably, all current Camry variants feature hybrid powertrains, significantly improving fuel efficiency.

According to the EPA, the Camry Hybrid consumes 4.61–5.35 L/100 km, compared to 7.25–9.41 L/100 km for previous non-hybrid models. This slashes operating costs. CarEdge data shows fuel expenses account for just 13% of the Camry’s 5-year ownership costs ($4,530 out of $34,297), second only to maintenance (4%).
