With its compact design and youthful appearance, the Hyundai Exter 2024 has attracted the attention of numerous customers with its appealing price.
Hyundai Exter 2024 is a totally new small SUV model that was introduced in India in July of this year. After its launch, Exter quickly gained the interest of customers in this South Asian country. According to information published by local media, Exter has received up to 75,000 pre-orders. This number exceeds the manufacturer’s expectations, and the company has had to increase production by 30% in order to quickly deliver the cars to customers. Specifically, Hyundai plans to produce 6,000 Exter cars per month at its plant in Chennai. However, the current plan has increased to 8,000 cars per month. In addition, the company has also cut back on exports to focus on serving the Indian market.
The high number of orders has also resulted in a delivery time of 6 months for most versions of the Hyundai Exter. In fact, customers who ordered the special edition have had to wait up to 9 months to receive their cars. The manufacturer also mentioned that the majority of Indian customers choose to purchase the highest-end version.
Hyundai Exter is positioned in the A-segment SUV segment. The car has dimensions of 3,815 x 1,710 x 1,631 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
Hyundai Exter applies the Sensuous Sportiness design language. The front of the car stands out with a square-shaped grille, combined with a unique H-shaped LED daytime running light. From the side, the Hyundai Exter resembles the Mufasa. At the rear, the taillights also feature an H-shaped graphic similar to the headlights.
The interior space of the Hyundai Exter is quite similar to its “big brother” Grand i10, with a circular steering wheel with 3 spokes, a integrated 4.2-inch LCD screen, and an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay / Android Auto connectivity.
Although it is in the affordable car segment, the Hyundai Exter is still equipped with many modern safety features. The car has 6 airbags, a hill-start assist system, ABS anti-lock braking system, electronic brake force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, reverse camera, 3-point seat belts, seat belt reminders in all positions, and Isofix child seat anchors.
In India, the Hyundai Exter 2024 has two engine options. The first is a naturally aspirated 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine borrowed from the Grand i10, which produces a maximum power of 83 horsepower and a maximum torque of 114 Nm. This engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission or an AMT automatic transmission. The second option is a CNG-powered engine with a maximum power of 69 horsepower and a maximum torque of 95.2 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.
According to many sources, Hyundai also plans to sell the Exter in the Vietnamese market. This information is further supported by the fact that some dealers have already begun to accept deposits for this model with a promise of delivery by the end of this year. Hyundai’s product range in Vietnam is already quite diverse, covering many segments, but it still lacks an affordable, compact crossover to compete with the VinFast VF 5, Kia Sonet, and Toyota Raize. If it is launched in Vietnam, the Hyundai Exter will have a price range of around 500 – 600 million dong.
