Reasonable price
Going back a few months, if a Vietnamese Biker wanted to own a Harley-Davidson Forty Eight, he would have to spend over 600 million VND. However, in 2019, that number has become much more attractive. Thanks to changes in import policies, the price of a Forty Eight has now dropped significantly and is now only 470 million VND.
This is great news for motorcycle enthusiasts in general and Harley-Davidson lovers in particular. What does the Harley-Davidson 48 2019 have?
Every Harley-Davidson when born has a unique appearance, a unique style that stands out from the crowd. The Forty Eight, or simply 48, is no exception. It is one of the highest-rated models in the Sportster family, which includes 5 different models.
The Harley-Davidson 48 features a pure Cruiser design. The low-seat height of about 700 mm is suitable for the Vietnamese physique. The 48 that I experienced comes with a solo saddle for one person, but if customers have the need, they can install a passenger seat to accommodate two people.
On top, the Forty Eight has a teardrop-shaped, 7.9-liter fuel tank. With an average fuel consumption of 4.9L/100km as specified by the manufacturer, after each refueling, you can only travel more than 100km. If the fuel tank had a larger capacity, bikers would have more comfortable long-distance travel.
The weight of an unloaded Harley Davidson is quite heavy, at 247kg. This is seen as a barrier for many Vietnamese bikers with small physiques. The front and rear wheels are 16 inches, with double 9-spoke black paint. The front tire is 130/90, while the rear tire is 150/80. The front suspension is telescopic, while the rear features a twin-sided symmetrical spring. The round headlight uses a halogen bulb to provide yellow light. The traditional circular cluster is still present on the Harley-Davidson 48 2019.
What makes the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight particularly attractive is the exposed engine. The 1,202cc air-cooled engine is placed completely uncovered under the fuel tank. The American manufacturer does not disclose much information about the performance of the bike. However, the Forty Eight has a maximum torque of 96 Nm at 3,750 rpm.
With the completely exposed engine, the rider can feel all the sounds and heat generated when the engine is running. If the sound of the engine creates emotion for the rider, the heat emitted also makes me feel uncomfortable every time I stop at a red light or turn off the engine. This is something that I have to adapt to in life.

Like humans, no one is perfect, and the same goes for motorcycles. They cannot be perfect in every aspect. For me, the Harley-Davidson Forty Eight is a good motorcycle and can score 8.5 out of 10. The stylish design, with a strong American character, allows the rider to showcase their personality. The versatile and comfortable riding ability makes the Forty Eight an ideal partner for every journey. Moreover, with the new import policy, it is now much easier to own a Harley-Davidson Forty Eight.
