In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic affected all aspects of life, including sports racing activities. Most international tournaments were postponed or played without spectators, so Honda Vietnam (HVN) couldn’t carry out the competition and training programs abroad.

However, with the desire to continuously promote a healthy sports racing scene in Vietnam, under the government’s guidelines on ensuring the health of participants, the Vietnam Motor Racing 2020 (VMRC 2020) tournament organized by the Vietnam Motorcycle and Bicycle Federation and sponsored by Honda Vietnam was successfully held. This is the third consecutive year that Honda Vietnam has been the main sponsor and organizer of this tournament.

On March 22, at Dai Nam racetrack (Binh Duong province), the organizing committee of VMRC 2020 held the closing ceremony and awarded the VMRC 2020 prizes. With 4 successful races held at the 2K racetrack and Dai Nam racetrack, VMRC 2020 has affirmed its professionalism, bringing meaningful competition to athletes, igniting the passion for speed and gradually raising the level of motorcycle racing in Vietnam closer to other countries in the region.

VMRC 2020 was successful with 4 races and 5 competition categories: Blade 110cc, MSX 125cc, Winner 150cc, UB130cc, and the Vietnam Talent Cup category. Among them, Vietnam Talent Cup is a category introduced for the first time in VMRC races. It is a competition for promising young athletes aged 15-17 who have never participated in the VMRC tournament, using the NSF100 model for racing.

The competition at VMRC 2020 included: 7 athletes competing in the Vietnam Talent Cup category, 12 athletes competing in the Blade 110cc category, 12 athletes competing in the MSX125cc category, 12 athletes competing in the Winner 150cc category, and in the club category, the competition involved 11 athletes from 7 Wave motor clubs.

VMRC 2020 gained high praise from experts and received enthusiastic response from the audience thanks to its professionalism in organization and high level of competition. This year, the tournament achieved several significant accomplishments, such as the introduction of a new scoring system, which increased the competitiveness for athletes, the development of the new Vietnam Talent Cup category for promising young athletes, and the issuance of certification cards for participating athletes who became members of the Vietnam Motorcycle and Bicycle Federation. With increasing professional and serious investment under the main sponsorship of HVN for 3 consecutive years, VMRC is gradually establishing its position among speed enthusiasts in Vietnam.

With 4 intense races, the organizing committee determined the overall rankings of the athletes, officially recognizing the winners of the VMRC 2020 season. On March 22, 2021, the grand closing ceremony and award ceremony for the VMRC 2020 season took place with the participation of the victorious athletes, the organizing committee, and the accompanying sponsors.

In the Vietnam Talent Cup category, athlete Nguyen Ton Anh Phu became the first champion in this discipline in Vietnam with 57 points. He was followed by Duc Tai with 48 points and William Vinh with 40 points. This is a well-deserved result for Anh Phu, with his impressive and dominant performance in all 4 races of VMRC 2020.

In the Blade 110cc category, Minh Phung became the champion with 61 points, followed by Phuong An with 47 points.

In the MSX 125cc category, Nguyen Duc Thanh, a racer under the Honda Racing Vietnam team, demonstrated absolute superiority in each race and it was no surprise that he claimed the championship title. Pham Thanh Bao secured the second position and Nhat Truong finished third throughout the season.

In the Winner 150cc category, with a fiercely competitive ranking system, racer Dang Khoa with 45 points became the champion. Meanwhile, the runner-up position went to racer Truong Giang with 42 points, and Dong Nghi secured the third position with 41 points.

In the UB130cc category, a new champion emerged, racer Le Hung Huu Tin, with 51 points. Trong Vinh secured the runner-up position with 42 points, and Minh Sang finished third with 40 points. In the club category, the Thiên Lê Racing club became the champion with 50 points, followed closely by the Southeast Asia Spare Parts club with 46 points, and the Phuc Barcelona club, despite only participating in 3 races, surpassed the Dong Nghi Racing club to stand in third place with 37 points.
